Founding Engineer

Summary

Build and own the core AI agent that automates enterprise system integrations like ERP migrations, reducing timelines from months to days using TypeScript, Python/Go, and open-source tooling.

About the Role

This is a founding engineering role at a fast-growing, Y Combinator–backed startup (W25) building AI agents for enterprise system implementations. The company automates the traditionally slow, consultant-heavy work of connecting, migrating, and implementing complex enterprise systems — think ERP rollouts, legacy data migrations, and production-grade system integrations — reducing timelines from months to days.

The core platform is open source with a strong community following, is SOC 2 Type II certified, GDPR-compliant, and supports EU and multi-region data residency, as well as self-hosted deployment via Docker/Kubernetes. The company supports 100+ enterprise systems including SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce, Snowflake, Postgres, Databricks, Stripe, ServiceNow, and more.

You would be one of the first engineers on a small, high-caliber team in Munich, with direct influence over architecture and engineering culture from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Build the agent core: Design and develop the planning, execution, and self-healing loops that turn natural-language integration descriptions into working, production-grade data pipelines.

  • Own systems end to end: Work across connectors, the transformation engine, execution runtime, the web app, SDK, and MCP server — picking up whatever is highest-leverage each week and shipping it.

  • Work on critical infrastructure: The software operates on live ERP and financial systems. You'll develop a deep understanding of failure modes and take reliability seriously.

  • Talk to customers: When a request touches your work, you'll join the customer call. Understanding real-world needs is part of the job, not a distraction from it.

  • Set the engineering bar: Everything you build becomes the pattern for the next ten engineers who join.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience building production systems

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript with demonstrated experience building end-to-end applications

  • Experience designing and implementing critical infrastructure with sound judgment on reliability and scalability

  • Experience integrating with or implementing enterprise systems (e.g. ERP, CRM, or data warehouse platforms such as SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce, or Snowflake)

  • Proficiency in at least one additional language beyond TypeScript (Python, Go, or C)

  • Experience working directly with customers on technical implementations or support

  • Experience building or contributing to open source projects

Nice to have:

  • Experience with data migration, ETL, or system integration projects

  • Background from a top technical university (e.g. TUM, RWTH, ETH) or equivalent depth demonstrated through competitive programming or strong internships

  • Experience in an early-stage startup or high-growth environment

Above all, we value:

  • Communication first: You can articulate problems clearly, explain what you tried, and engage confidently with customers. Technically brilliant engineers who can't communicate effectively aren't a fit here.

  • Technical judgment: You make good calls on build vs. buy, abstractions, and tradeoffs — not just execution.

  • Ownership mindset: No ticket queue, no pre-written specs. You identify the problem and drive it to resolution.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: €90,000 – €150,000 per year, depending on experience

  • Meaningful early equity in a seed-stage company running at or near breakeven

  • Direct impact on product, architecture, and company direction from day one

  • Small, high-trust team with no bureaucracy

Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

This is an on-site role based in Munich, Germany. The team works together in person; remote-only arrangements are not offered for this position.
