Location: Remote, US or LATAM

Type: flexible

Compensation: Competitive cash + equity compensation; tailored to the candidate

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on founding engineering role with ownership of architecture, infrastructure, and engineering execution. You will strengthen and extend an established production platform, leading the existing engineering team.

You will take full ownership of technical decisions, implementation quality, and production operation. Josh leads product priorities and brings deep infrastructure-finance expertise; you translate those priorities into sound engineering decisions and dependable software. You will work with Josh and our financial modeling team to understand complex workflows and build reusable platform capabilities. Josh owns customer communication and discovery during the initial phase.

We are hiring for judgment and track record: someone who can evaluate an existing foundation, make disciplined tradeoffs, and lead delivery while remaining deeply involved in the code.

What You'll Own

Strong data modeling, calculation orchestration, integrations, versioning, and production reliability are central to this role, alongside the ability to deliver a complete customer-facing application.

1. Product and Application Engineering

Build the product end to end on the existing stack of Next.js, React, TypeScript, and a .net C# excel control layer. Design robust financial data models, reliable calculation orchestration, source-system integrations, and scenario and version controls. Make outputs traceable and reproducible, with reconciliation and review where required. Deliver clear, responsive interfaces for complex financial workflows.

2. Infrastructure and Architecture

Own and evolve the existing architecture, services, data layer, infrastructure as code, deployment environments, observability, and CI/CD. Make build-versus-buy decisions and lead technical planning and execution. Strengthen testing, performance, recovery, and release practices as deployments and usage grow. Turn customer requirements into shared capabilities, configuration, or bounded extensions.

3. Security and Sensitive Data

Own the engineering controls that protect confidential customer financial data: authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, encryption, access control, and audit trails. Maintain reliable production operation through monitoring, backups, incident response, and controlled deployment and rollback. You are accountable for implementation and operation.

4. Product Collaboration and Team Leadership

Partner with the CEO and financial modelers to translate customer requirements into technical designs, implementation plans, and software with clear acceptance criteria. Own engineering delivery and production readiness, with customer communication led by the CEO. There is potential for this role to participate directly in and own parts of that discovery and workflow over time once domain fluency is proven. Guide and mentor the engineering team, maintain code-review and delivery standards, and help assess future engineering hires.

Early Success

  • Deliver the remaining product and platform capabilities required to serve clients #3 & #4 in production.

  • Prepare Inframodel to scale across the market in 2027 through maintainable architecture, production reliability, and engineering practices that support a growing customer base and team.

Who We're Looking For

Must have

  • Experience building and shipping financial-modeling-oriented enterprise SaaS. You understand how financial assumptions, calculations, scenarios, and outputs interact, and have translated that logic into production software for finance users.

  • 10+ years building and shipping production software.

  • Demonstrated ownership of architecture, infrastructure, and production engineering, including infrastructure as code.

  • Deep experience with data modeling, calculation orchestration, integrations, versioning, and production reliability.

  • Strong full-stack command of TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with sound product and interface judgment.

  • Experience protecting sensitive financial data in enterprise software.

  • Experience building new products or substantial capabilities in a small team.

  • Professional-level English and the ability to clearly explain technical decisions and tradeoffs to the founder and internal team.

  • Ability to independently own architecture, infrastructure, and engineering execution without requiring senior technical oversight.

Background we're targeting

You have owned complex financial software from architecture through production use. Relevant backgrounds include enterprise financial modeling, planning and forecasting, or fintech platforms where financial calculation and scenario logic are core to the product. We value evidence that you can combine hands-on delivery with sound architecture and operational discipline.

Nice to have

These strengthen an application but are not required.

  • Energy, infrastructure, or project-finance experience.

  • Experience with calculation engines, Excel automation, model parsing, or governed spreadsheet integration.

  • Experience scaling enterprise deployments through shared product capabilities and configuration.

  • A track record as an early engineer whose systems continued to operate and evolve.

  • Experience applying AI to financial workflows with source traceability, validation, and human review.
