We are looking for an experienced Founding Engineer to join our early-stage engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the technical foundation of our product. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial engineer who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and enjoys building scalable systems from the ground up. As one of the earliest technical hires, you will have significant ownership over architecture, product development, infrastructure decisions, and engineering culture.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of backend engineering experience, with deep expertise in Python and designing high-performance distributed systems. You should be passionate about solving complex technical challenges, writing clean and maintainable code, and collaborating closely with product and business teams to transform ideas into production-ready solutions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services using Python.
  • Architect robust APIs, microservices, and distributed systems capable of supporting rapid business growth.
  • Build secure, reliable, and high-performance applications with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with founders, product managers, and designers to define product strategy and technical roadmaps.
  • Drive technical decision-making across system architecture, infrastructure, and engineering best practices.
  • Optimize application performance, database queries, and backend workflows for maximum efficiency.
  • Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data protection mechanisms.
  • Lead code reviews, establish coding standards, and mentor engineers as the team grows.
  • Design monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure high system reliability.
  • Participate in hiring and building a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve product quality and engineering velocity.
  • Work across the complete software development lifecycle—from architecture and implementation to deployment and production support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8–10 years of professional experience in backend software development.
  • Strong expertise in Python with extensive experience building production-grade backend applications.
  • Proven experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, and scalable distributed architectures.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and clean architecture principles.
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including performance optimization and data modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Docker, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and backend deployment strategies.
  • Familiarity with asynchronous programming, caching technologies, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, and security best practices.
  • Experience working in startup or high-growth environments is highly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence technical direction.
