Founding Product Engineer — Whipscribe

Company: Whipscribe by Neugence Technology Location: Fully Remote Type: Full-time Probation: 3 Months

About Whipscribe

Whipscribe is an AI-powered audio and video intelligence platform. Users can record or upload media, transcribe content in 100+ languages, use speaker diarization and word-level timestamps, generate AI insights, create clips and captions, and access Whipscribe through APIs and integrations.

We are looking for a Founding Product Engineer who wants to build, experiment, and take ownership—not simply execute assigned tickets.

You will work directly with the founder across engineering, product, and AI, owning features from idea to production.

Skills

React / Next.js, TypeScript / JavaScript, Android / Kotlin, Electron / Tauri, Node.js / Python, REST APIs, PostgreSQL / MongoDB, AI / LLM APIs, Claude / Cursor / AI Coding Agents, FFmpeg & Audio/Video Processing, Git / CI/CD / Testing, Product Thinking & Technical Problem Solving

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship features across Web, Android, Desktop, Backend, and AI
  • Research problems and evaluate technical and product solutions
  • Build AI-powered workflows using LLM APIs
  • Use AI coding tools such as Claude/Opus, ChatGPT, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot
  • Review, test, and validate AI-generated code
  • Work with APIs, databases, authentication, and backend systems
  • Improve UX, performance, reliability, and product quality
  • Research competitors and emerging technologies
  • Prototype and validate ideas quickly
  • Own features end-to-end: Problem → Research → Build → Test → Launch → Iterate
  • Identify problems proactively and propose solutions

What We're Looking For

Must Have

  • Strong programming fundamentals
  • Experience building production applications
  • Strong web development skills
  • Android development experience
  • Ability to build and ship independently
  • Understanding of APIs, databases, and backend systems
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Git and modern development workflows
  • Ability to work effectively with AI coding tools
  • Strong communication, ownership, and attention to detail

Strongly Preferred

  • React / Next.js
  • Android / Kotlin
  • Electron / Tauri
  • Node.js / Python
  • AI / LLM APIs
  • FFmpeg and audio/video processing
  • Startup or 0→1 product experience
  • Experience independently launching products

AI-Native Engineering

AI is a core part of our development workflow.

You should be able to use AI aggressively while still exercising strong engineering judgment:

  • Provide the right context
  • Break complex problems into smaller tasks
  • Review and validate generated code
  • Verify technical claims and documentation
  • Test edge cases and security
  • Benchmark solutions
  • Know when AI is wrong

AI should make you faster—not less thoughtful.

Product Mindset

You won't just receive specifications. You will be expected to think about:

  • What problem are we solving?
  • Who is the user?
  • Is there a simpler solution?
  • What are competitors doing?
  • Can we validate the idea before building it?
  • How will we measure success?

You will own product and technical due diligence for the work you take on.

Who We're Looking For

We want someone who is self-driven, curious, and hungry to grow.

Someone who:

  • Learns without being told
  • Builds because they are curious
  • Reads documentation and figures things out
  • Uses AI intelligently
  • Takes ownership when things break
  • Is comfortable saying "I don't know" and finding the answer
  • Cares about product quality and user experience
  • Wants to become significantly better over the next 2–3 years

This role is not for someone who only wants to complete tickets. It is for someone who wants to become a strong product-minded engineer and eventually own major parts of a startup.

First 90 Days

0–30 Days

  • Understand the architecture and product
  • Learn user workflows
  • Fix important bugs and UX issues
  • Ship meaningful improvements
  • Adopt our AI-assisted development workflow

30–60 Days

  • Own complete features independently
  • Improve existing workflows
  • Research new product opportunities
  • Contribute to Android/Desktop development
  • Strengthen testing and release practices

60–90 Days

  • Own a major product area
  • Ship multiple meaningful improvements
  • Propose and validate new ideas
  • Improve product quality, performance, and UX
  • Demonstrate end-to-end ownership

How We Hire

We care more about what you can build than your resume.

The process may include a practical product assignment involving:

  1. Researching a real problem
  2. Evaluating solutions
  3. Using AI tools effectively
  4. Building a working prototype
  5. Explaining technical decisions
  6. Discussing what you'd improve for production

If you want to build, experiment, learn fast, and take ownership—apply.

Build, don't just code.
