Founding Product Marketing Lead

The Role

We’re looking for someone to lead Spangle’s product marketing from end to end, and to help turn our strategy into growth. You’ll shape the story everywhere buyers meet us: the website, demos, customer stories, sales enablement, and buyer education. Together, we want Spangle to be the first name enterprise retailers think of for AI-driven product discovery.

At its heart, this role is about making complex ideas feel simple. If we get it right, the market will understand Spangle before they ever talk to Sales.

This is the right role if you believe marketing can be fundamentally innovated and want a front-row seat in shaping how the modern marketing role evolves. You’ll join a small team of experienced senior leaders who have built and scaled companies before, and you’ll have a real seat at the table. Your voice will shape company direction, not just marketing. This is a hands-on, founding product marketing role. You’ll partner closely with our founders, customers, product, and sales, and you’ll have the freedom to use AI as much as you like to amplify what you do.

If you’d enjoy defining a new category alongside seasoned leaders, with real product market fit and well known enterprise customers, we’d love to talk. You’ll help shape how one of the first AI-native enterprise software companies is built. This role offers a unique trajectory to rapidly scale into executive marketing leadership in an AI-first environment, backed by world-class leaders and advisors.

What you'll personally own

While the scope is broad, you will lead initially as a hands-on individual contributor while leveraging AI workflows, subject matter expert advisory, and direct partnership with our leadership team—we are all active builders and operators. Priorities are stacked ranked based on ROI impact to GTM. As the function scales, the role is designed to offer opportunities to step into broader marketing leadership with career development support.

  • The website. Every buyer who arrives should immediately understand Spangle's differentiation. Shape the positioning, storytelling through sales enablement materials and customer proof surfaces. Iterate and test with market feedback to continuously improve and stand out in a crowded market.
  • Customer discovery. Partner with sales and client success to understand client pain points and needs by joining meetings and leveraging call transcripts to create artifacts and FAQs. Listen to how buyers describe their problems, what questions keep coming up, and what language resonates
  • Sales narrative and demo, with Product and Sales. Help create one clear story the sales team can tell. Build a demo flow that shows how our engine reasons across customer intent, brand, catalog, and business context. That reasoning is the “aha” moment that sets Spangle apart from AI-visibility measurement and personalization tools, often in about 90 seconds. You’ll also shape the sales deck, ROI framing, and talk tracks for common questions.
  • Customer stories. Turn our enterprise customers’ successes into stories we can share again and again: written case studies, video, on-stage moments, and press quotes.
  • Thought leadership. Help guide the company’s LinkedIn presence and content. Support keynotes, panels, and podcasts. Place op-eds in BoF, Modern Retail, and Digital Commerce 360. Build an editorial calendar around our core observation: “Customers experience one brand. Retailers still operate through disconnected teams, tools, and workflows.” Write long-form essays about our mission.
  • Buyer education content. Create the glossary and educational pages that help buyers understand Spangle before they meet us. Build flagship comparison pages, FAQs, how-tos, and decision-help content that keeps paying off for years. We write for buyers first, and AI discoverability follows naturally.
  • Analyst relationships. Build relationships with Forrester, Gartner, and IDC analysts covering commerce and AI, and with the retail-tech voices shaping the conversation. You’ll build these relationships directly. This work comes once the content and story are in place.
  • Press and conference presence. Build our presence in Modern Retail, BoF, Digital Commerce 360, Glossy, Retail Dive, and the broader business and tech press. Shape our stage strategy across Shoptalk, NRF, BoF VOICES, and eTail. Our leadership team has strong connections at across the industry and we’ll support this effort with our connections.

How you'll work

You’ll build the foundation yourself and grow the team as the business calls for it.

  • Months 0–6: You, your AI tools, and a design/video contractor whenever you need one.
  • Months 6–12: The option to add a content marketer or marketing analytics specialist as the results support it.
  • Year 2: Room to add a specialist if the business needs one.

We encourage using AI every day to make your work go further. We value impact over headcount. Rather than working through PR firms or agencies, you’ll build direct relationships and own the work yourself, with AI to help you move faster.

Who succeeds here

  • You love to write, and you’re great at it. A homepage, an essay, a deck, a press release, a LinkedIn post: you can take on any of them and make it shine.
  • You use AI every day. Claude, GPT, Perplexity, Cursor, or similar tools are part of how you work. You’ve built your own automations and enjoy talking about your setup.
  • You like getting things out the door. You’d rather ship than talk about shipping.
  • You’re comfortable with open space. You don’t need a detailed brief to get started. You enjoy writing the brief yourself.
  • You’re versatile. You’re just as happy talking to a customer as you are writing a homepage, building a demo narrative, or briefing an analyst. You enjoy owning the whole story, not just one channel.
  • You’re excited to build a market and help lead a company, more than to manage a marketing department.

What We're Looking For

Required experience

  • 5-8+ years in B2B SaaS product marketing, including the last 3–5 as a senior IC or founding PMM at a Series A–C startup that grew into a recognized name.
  • A track record of personally writing and shipping category-defining work, such as homepages, launch narratives, sales decks, customer stories, comparison pages, and analyst briefings. We’re most interested in what you’ve built with your own hands.
  • You start with positioning. You lead with messaging architecture, competitive positioning, and a deep feel for how buyers talk. Sales enablement flows naturally from that work.
  • You’re comfortable with measurement. You treat positioning as something to test and learn from, and you’ve built dashboards to track it.
  • You’re a natural partner to founders and senior leaders. You know how to amplify a founder’s voice rather than replace it, and you bring your own perspective to leadership conversations.

Ideal experience

  • Founding PMM at a company that grew from $0 to $20M+ ARR with a small team.
  • Background at an AI-native startup (Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity, Cursor, Linear, Vercel, Cohere, Notion) or a commerce-adjacent company (Klaviyo, Attentive, Shopify Plus partners).
  • Experience building a positioning that held together across many surfaces at scale.
  • Experience creating evergreen educational content that keeps paying off over time.
  • Direct relationships with B2B SaaS press and analysts, or a retail-tech press network.

Our Culture

  • GenAI-native in how we build, sell, and operate
  • High ownership, low overhead, and bias toward action
  • Focus on speed, experimentation, and execution
  • Deep emphasis on creating clear, demonstrable customer value
  • Preference for builders and operators over hierarchy
  • Strong belief in in-person collaboration

Why Spangle

  • Opportunity to shape enterprise sales for a category-defining GenAI commerce platform
  • Direct partnership with the founding team who built AI solutions at scale for Amazon, Saks and marquee brands and retailers
  • Meaningful ownership and impact at an early stage with ample career growth opportunities
  • Competitive salary with uncapped commission and equity
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), Unlimited PTO

Spangle is an equal opportunity employer.

To apply please share your resume and cover letter including:

  1. A short note on why this role and why now
  2. Three pieces of content you personally shipped in the last 12 months — links to the content, plus a one-sentence note on what each produced
  3. A description of your AI stack and one automation you built that compounded
