Village Miles is an early-stage India-focused travel marketplace connecting travelers with local hosts in villages, rural communities, and lesser-known destinations.
We are hiring a founding senior product engineer to become the main owner of day-to-day technical execution—not a developer who waits for tickets. You will work across product design, frontend, backend, APIs, databases, releases, debugging, security, privacy, testing, documentation, and mobile/web compatibility.
You will take features from requirement through production, investigate systems you did not build, review AI-generated code critically, and respectfully challenge technical or product decisions that create avoidable risk or complexity.
Our current stack includes React, TypeScript, a Next.js-style architecture, Cloudflare Workers, D1, R2, SQL, GitHub, and mobile/native surfaces. Cloudflare experience is useful, not mandatory; strong engineering fundamentals matter more.
Requirements
• Approximately 5+ years of meaningful production engineering experience; exceptional candidates with slightly less experience are welcome
• Strong React and TypeScript experience
• Production backend/API and SQL/database experience
• Experience with database migrations and authentication/authorization
• Proven ownership of real software from requirement through production
• Strong debugging, testing, release, security, and privacy judgment
• Ability to work independently across frontend, backend, and database layers
• Responsible use of AI coding tools, including careful review before production
• Willingness to challenge weak technical or product decisions respectfully
• Cloud deployment experience; Cloudflare exposure is useful but not required
