About Fynliq Fynliq is an early-stage technology company building products around one simple idea: help young consumers navigate money better, beginning with the financial problems college students already face. We are intentionally starting narrow. Our first wedge is FAFSA, grants, financial aid, and college affordability. Before building the full product, we began creating content around these problems and discovered significant organic demand from college students. Our founder-led TikTok distribution has generated approximately 1.9M organic views, 90K+ likes, thousands of comments and shares, and consistent inbound questions from students in roughly one month. We have now begun converting that audience into early Fynliq signups. Rather than building a huge financial platform and hoping people come, our strategy is: Audience → FAFSA/college-finance wedge → users → product → broader financial ecosystem. What we’re building The first version of Fynliq will focus on college students. We want to build technology that can help students understand and navigate financial aid, grants, FAFSA-related questions, college costs, and their financial lives more broadly. From there, our vision expands. As we earn user trust and distribution, we intend to introduce additional financial tools, including location-aware merchant offers and rewards, followed eventually by the Fynliq debit-card experience we’ve been developing. FAFSA isn’t the entire company. It’s our wedge into a much larger market. Why join now? This is extremely early. You won’t be joining a mature engineering organization and receiving tickets from a product manager. You’ll help determine what gets built in the first place. You’ll work directly with the founder and founding team to: * Build and ship the Fynliq MVP * Develop the student onboarding and account experience * Build our FAFSA/college-finance product experience * Turn user questions and behavior into product features * Build backend infrastructure and APIs * Design databases and user-data architecture * Implement authentication and security * Develop analytics and experimentation infrastructure * Improve our existing signup funnel * Eventually help architect merchant, location-based, rewards and financial-product functionality * Talk to actual users and iterate rapidly based on what they need We’re looking for builders who are comfortable with ambiguity, ownership and shipping quickly. Required before applying We want applicants to experience the current Fynliq funnel themselves. Before submitting your application, visit the Fynliq signup page and enter your email: joinfynliq.netlify.app Then include the same email address in your application and answer: After going through the signup flow, what is the first thing you would improve or build—and why? We’re doing this intentionally. We want people who actually interact with what we’re building rather than mass-applying to another startup job. Who we’re looking for You may be a strong fit if you: * Can build real software from an early concept * Are comfortable working without perfect specifications * Have experience with modern web/mobile development * Understand APIs, databases and backend architecture * Care about clean, maintainable code * Can move quickly without being careless * Are willing to speak directly with users * Think about products, not just code * Enjoy solving ambiguous problems * Want meaningful ownership in something extremely early * Work well with a small, highly collaborative team Startup experience is useful but not required. Exceptional builders early in their careers are welcome. Compensation — please read before applying This role is currently equity-only. There is no cash salary at this stage. Fynliq is an early-stage company and we are currently building our initial product and team. We offer equity to a small number of people we believe are strong fits for both the role and the company culture. Equity amount will depend on experience, expected contribution, commitment and role scope, and will be documented through appropriate company agreements and vesting terms. As Fynliq raises financing and/or generates sufficient revenue, we intend to introduce cash compensation for appropriate roles, but applicants should not rely on future financing or salary as guaranteed compensation. Please apply only if an equity-only early-stage opportunity fits your current circumstances. The bigger vision We’re not trying to label Fynliq as another “fintech.” We’re building a technology company centered around the financial lives of young consumers. Today that begins with college students and FAFSA. Tomorrow that can expand into merchant discovery, personalized offers, spending intelligence, rewards and eventually the Fynliq debit-card ecosystem. We already have an audience telling us what hurts. Now we need exceptional engineers to help us build the technology that solves it.
