# Job Summary
The FP&A / Business Analyst will serve as a key financial partner at the intersection of finance, accounting, and commercial strategy. The role involves owning and analyzing performance metrics across various revenue channels, developing forecasts, dashboards, and insights to inform strategic decisions. The position offers significant autonomy to design and implement reporting infrastructure, supporting the company's growth and operational efficiency. The analyst will work closely with the Controller, outsourced CFO, and executive leadership, contributing to the company's financial planning, analysis, and operational decision-making.
## Responsibilities
- Support the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts, providing insights to enhance accuracy and decision-making.
- Manage channel-level Profit & Loss (P&L) statements from outsourced accounting teams, focusing on profitability analysis for Amazon, TikTok Shop, Shopify DTC, and wholesale channels.
- Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals, budgets, and prior periods, providing narrative explanations for deviations.
- Assist in building and improving core financial reporting tools, including KPI dashboards and performance narratives for executive and board review.
- Support cash flow forecasting, including 13-week rolling cash forecasts and working capital analysis (DSO, DPO, DIO).
- Collaborate with bookkeeping and accounting teams to reconcile data across platforms, support month-end close activities, and maintain data integrity.
- Analyze marketing and media performance, connecting ad spend to channel-specific returns and unit economics.
- Develop financial models to evaluate expansion opportunities such as new marketplaces, geographies, and retail accounts.
- Support inventory and demand planning through sell-through analysis, forecasting, and margin impact assessments.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and decision support to leadership, including the Controller, CFO, and founders.
## Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience in FP&A, business/financial analysis, or a similar finance role.
- Proven experience in retail and e-commerce environments, understanding the distinct economics of DTC, marketplace, and wholesale channels.
- Strong foundation in accounting principles (GAAP), with experience supporting month-end close processes and financial statement analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, including financial modeling and driver-based model development.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks (Online preferred).
- Platform fluency with Shopify, Amazon (Seller and/or Vendor Central), and TikTok Shop, including data extraction and reconciliation.
- Familiarity with major retail wholesale accounts, vendor systems, and retailer portals, including deductions, chargebacks, and sell-through reporting.
- Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for drafting analysis, building models, data cleaning, and automating reporting tasks.
- Excellent written communication skills, capable of translating complex data into clear narratives for executives.
## Preferred Skills
- Experience in consumer products, home goods, or textiles industry.
- Knowledge of multi-channel or omnichannel retail operations.
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization tools such as SQL, Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Exposure to marketplace and DTC analytics platforms like Triple Whale or Northbeam.
- Understanding of inventory management, demand planning, and supply chain data, including 3PL logistics.
- Experience supporting international expansion, including VAT/GST compliance, multi-currency transactions, and cross-border logistics.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, lean environment where processes are developed iteratively.
## Experience
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or related roles within retail or e-commerce sectors.
- Demonstrated experience working with multi-channel revenue streams and retail accounts.
## Environment
This role is remote, requiring overlap with US Eastern (EST) business hours. The work environment involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including finance, marketing, and operations, in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial setting. The position involves working with digital platforms, financial systems, and data tools, with occasional coordination across time zones for international markets.
