FP&A Business Partner
Posted Updated
Description
- As our new FP&A Business Partner, you will sit at the centre of Cubic’s commercial finance – owning customer profitability, driving margin improvement and providing the insights that enable confident decision-making across the Group. As a company, Cubic³ provides a managed IoT connectivity platform, global carrier network access, and tailored connected services to leading automotive and mobile asset OEMs worldwide. This role sits within the FP&A team, acting as the finance partner to our commercial teams and balancing growth with margin discipline
- We’re looking for a qualified accountant who combines strong analytical foundations with real curiosity and a passion for challenging the status quo – including through the smart use of AI. Reporting to the FP&A Director, you’ll work cross-functionally with Commercial, Sales, Account Management, Operations and the wider Finance team – building the kind of broad commercial awareness that accelerates long-term career growth. This is a hands-on role with real scope to influence how Cubic understands customer profitability and plans for margin as the business scales
- Act as finance business partner to the commercial organisation - driving margin improvement plans with a quantified benefit, owner and timeline, and challenging pipeline and forecast assumptions: how will this revenue be delivered, and do the numbers add up?
- Build and maintain customer P&Ls for key customers, explaining how revenue mix and wholesale cost drive margin and translating the numbers into plain language for non-finance colleagues
- Deliver monthly FP&A reporting – variance analysis against Flash, forecast, budget and prior year for the monthly Flash and Finance MBR – and provide customer, margin and cost inputs to the budget, rolling forecast and five-year plan
- Improve our FP&A models, making them more robust, scalable and efficient, using AI for analysis, data preparation and scenario testing while validating outputs to the standard our reporting demands
- Improve how we report and explain the numbers – including shaping AI-enabled reporting – and deliver improvements within an agreed roadmap
- This is an opportunity to join a best-in-class FP&A function in a high-growth, global connectivity business with direct exposure to commercial finance, cross-functional collaboration, and the margin dynamics behind Cubic’s ambitious growth trajectory
- New hires at Cubic³ are required to work onsite five days a week during their six-month probation period to get to know the company, their team, and our ways of working. After probation, we offer a flexible arrangement of up to eight work-from-home days per month, provided it aligns with business needs and performance standards. This arrangement is not a given for all roles

- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with a strong analytical foundation and commercial awareness
- Commercially curious – challenges assumptions and asks why the numbers are what they are
- AI-native mindset – uses AI every day, can show where it has saved time or improved insight, and knows where it adds value and where it does not
