FP&A Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a FP&A Director based in United States.

The FP&A Director will serve as a strategic financial leader responsible for both long-term financial planning and the operational integrity of the organization’s finances.
The role combines FP&A leadership with accounting oversight, financial controls, compliance, and strategic fiscal initiatives.
You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning while developing sophisticated models to guide growth, investments, and pricing decisions.
The position requires a strong understanding of recurring revenue, utilization, cost of revenue, and profitability across technology-enabled professional services.
You will partner closely with Technology/R&D, Sales, Operations, and other leaders to optimize resources and improve financial performance.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes, ensuring financial plans remain aligned with organizational growth objectives, service delivery requirements, and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models, including driver-based forecasts, scenario analyses, project profitability models, capital investment evaluations, and pricing analyses to support informed executive decision-making.
  • Analyze key business and financial metrics relevant to eDiscovery and professional services, including MRR/ARR, utilization rates, cost of revenue for data hosting and processing, and gross margin across service lines such as managed review and forensic collections.
  • Act as a strategic financial partner to department leaders, particularly across Technology/R&D, Sales, and Operations, providing insights that improve resource allocation, operational efficiency, profitability, and business performance.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of revenue recognition and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, GAAP, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Partner with General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and other accounting functions to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial statements and reporting.
  • Oversee capital asset projects and expenditures, monitoring investment decisions against approved budgets, organizational priorities, and expected business outcomes.
  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls and financial policies, ensuring accounting procedures are consistently followed through appropriate supervision, observation, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare fiscal estimates, management reports, board-level presentations, governmental filings, and other financial analyses required to support leadership, governance, and strategic planning.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; advanced education is a plus, and a CPA designation is highly preferred.
    • At least 8 years of progressive finance experience, including a minimum of 5 years managing FP&A functions or teams, with experience in eDiscovery, LegalTech, SaaS, professional services, or a comparable environment strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience combining strategic FP&A leadership with financial control and accounting oversight, including responsibility for planning, reporting, financial integrity, and operational finance.
    • Strong understanding of financial practices and procedures, including GAAP and/or IFRS, as well as applicable state and federal financial rules and regulations.
    • Experience working with ERP or other accounting software and proficiency with standard financial, accounting, and office technology.
    • Strong managerial capabilities, including the ability to evaluate performance, develop team members, establish accountability, and lead finance professionals effectively.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights for internal stakeholders, executives, and other audiences.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and financial discipline.
    • Ability to work effectively in a computer-based environment, including prolonged periods of desk and computer work.
