FP+A Manager

New
Grind is a coffee company that lives in London. Since opening Shoreditch Grind in 2011, we've expanded across London with cafés, coffee trucks and a state-of-the-art coffee roastery. Today, we serve millions of cups of coffee across London and the UK each year, and we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of people make better, more sustainable coffee at home. You’ll find our coffee beans, compostable coffee pods and ready-to-drink coffee cans - in supermarkets across the UK and in hotels around the world.
Based in Shoreditch, we have a team of talented people working on everything from product development to finance, to customer experience. We’re looking for someone to join our growing team and help us in building the future of Grind.

We think coffee can be a force for good. Whether it's through creating the UK's first compostable coffee pods, our plastic-free packaging or carbon-free shipping - we're on a mission to be the world's most sustainable coffee company.
In 2023, we created our charity, the Better Coffee Foundation, to undo the damage done by the global coffee industry - in our first year, we recovered 43 million pods' worth of ocean-bound plastic.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve Grind’s budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes across our different channels and functions.
  • Build and maintain robust financial models, ensuring assumptions, inputs and outputs are accurate, clearly understood and appropriately challenged.
  • Lead monthly performance reporting, providing clear analysis of actuals versus budget, forecast and prior year, including meaningful variance commentary.
  • Partner with teams across High Street, Grocery, DTC and B2B to understand performance drivers and translate operational activity into financial outcomes.
  • Provide commercially focused analysis across revenue, gross margin, labour, operating costs and profitability to support better business decisions.

  • Develop scenario modelling and business cases to support new initiatives, investments, product launches and other strategic decisions.
  • Strengthen the quality, consistency and accessibility of financial reporting, creating clear KPIs and management information for senior stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the wider Finance team to ensure management reporting is underpinned by accurate, reconciled and reliable financial data.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities within forecasts, challenging assumptions and ensuring these are clearly communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Continue to improve FP&A processes, systems and ways of working, creating scalable tools and reporting as Grind grows.

You’ll have.
  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with post-qualification experience working in an FP&A, commercial finance or similar role within industry.
  • Strong technical finance and accounting knowledge, with a high standard of accuracy and a track record of producing robust, reliable 3-statement financial models and reporting.
  • Experience working within an FMCG, consumer or omnichannel business, with an understanding of the different commercial drivers across channels such as retail, ecommerce, hospitality and wholesale.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with the ability to work confidently with large and complex datasets.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to move between detailed financial analysis and the bigger business picture.
  • Confidence partnering with and constructively challenging senior stakeholders, communicating complex financial information in a clear and straightforward way.
  • A proactive and inquisitive approach, with strong attention to detail and a desire to continually improve processes, reporting and financial visibility.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growing business where priorities can change and you’re comfortable balancing structure with getting things done.

Bonus if you have…
  • Experience within FMCG, hospitality, retail, ecommerce or another multi-channel consumer business.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, Looker or another data visualisation platform.
  • Experience using SQL or working directly with data warehouses.
  • A love of coffee and an interest in sustainable consumer brands.
