FP&A Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a FP&A Manager based in United States.

The FP&A Manager serves as a strategic finance partner to a diverse portfolio of high-growth startups, SMBs, nonprofits, and other dynamic organizations. This role combines financial planning and analysis with client relationship management, operational oversight, and hands-on problem solving. You will build forecasts, budgets, operating plans, profitability analyses, and cash flow models that help leaders make informed business decisions. The position also offers exposure to projects including KPI and cohort analysis, inventory planning, due diligence, M&A support, and finance technology initiatives. Working under the guidance of experienced Virtual CFOs, you will receive hands-on mentoring while taking increasing ownership of client engagements and strategic projects. Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the overall fiscal operations of assigned client businesses, directing dedicated accounting teams across the full monthly accounting cycle and ensuring financial activities are completed accurately and effectively.
  • Maintain productive relationships with external partners, vendors, and other stakeholders supporting each client, ensuring financial and operational needs are addressed efficiently.
  • Develop short- and long-range financial plans that support established business objectives, strengthen financial performance, and maximize client profitability.
  • Provide ongoing financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to business leaders, translating financial information into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Prepare and present timely, accurate interpretations of operating results to boards of directors, senior management teams, and other executive stakeholders.
  • Support financial compliance and legal requirements by providing sound financial leadership and helping implement and maintain appropriate policies, controls, and processes.
  • Supervise client engagements and, when required, provide direction to internal client finance teams, helping establish priorities, maintain accountability, and improve financial operations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to diagnose and resolve complex or ad-hoc finance and accounting challenges, applying practical and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Analyze relevant market trends, competitive dynamics, and industry developments to help clients understand external factors affecting their financial performance and strategic plans.
  • Support financial systems implementations, technology initiatives, and custom software solutions designed to improve back-office efficiency, reporting, and financial operations.
  • Contribute to special projects such as KPI analysis, cohort analysis, inventory demand planning, due diligence, M&A support, and other strategic financial initiatives as client needs evolve.
  • Build strong client relationships through a proactive, service-oriented approach, anticipating business needs and delivering high-quality financial guidance in fast-paced environments.
  • Requirements:

    • At least 8 years of experience in a financial role, including a minimum of 5 years in a finance leadership position with responsibility for financial planning, analysis, accounting oversight, or related functions.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, as specified for the role.
    • Strong understanding of equity and debt financing, with the ability to evaluate financing considerations and communicate their implications to business leaders.
    • Proven track record of supporting organizational growth through sophisticated financial analysis, effective modeling, performance tracking, and data-driven decision-making.
    • Demonstrated experience leading financial budgeting and planning processes, including developing forecasts, operating plans, and longer-term financial strategies.
    • Experience overseeing and reviewing corporate accounting functions, with a solid understanding of financial operations and the ability to work effectively with accounting teams.
    • Strong knowledge of financial compliance requirements and experience implementing, maintaining, and managing financial policies and processes.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint, and the ability to quickly learn and effectively use new financial and business software.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet, work through ambiguous financial challenges, and develop practical solutions.
    • Excellent client-facing communication and relationship-building skills, with a proactive, service-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively with leaders and stakeholders at different levels.
    • Highly organized and capable of prioritizing multiple client engagements, projects, deadlines, and competing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
    • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges, with a demonstrated interest in working with high-growth and dynamic businesses.
    • Collaborative and accountable, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work, continuously improving processes, and taking ownership from project initiation through completion.
