FP&A Manager

We are a leading national distributor of premium tile, stone, and hard-surface flooring products serving residential builders, commercial contractors, and specialty retailers across a multi-state footprint. Backed by a growth-oriented private equity sponsor, we are actively executing a buy-and-build acquisition strategy and seeking a high-caliber finance professional to join our lean, high-impact team as we scale toward a near-term exit or recapitalization event.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The FP&A Manager (or Senior Financial Analyst, depending on experience) will serve as the analytical backbone of our finance function, partnering directly with the CFO, operating leadership, and our PE sponsor to deliver the financial intelligence needed to run the business and execute our growth strategy. This is a high-visibility, hands-on role with meaningful exposure to board-level reporting, M&A diligence, and strategic planning in a fast-paced distribution environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
· Lead the annual budget process, including consolidation of branch/regional inputs, corporate overhead, and capital expenditure planning.
· Develop and maintain a 18-month rolling forecast model, updated monthly, incorporating sales pipeline data, supplier pricing trends, and operational assumptions.
· Perform detailed variance analysis (actual vs. budget vs. forecast) with actionable commentary and recommendations for course-correction.
· Build and own the long-range plan (LRP/5-year model) aligned to the sponsor's investment thesis and exit timeline.
· Partner with operations, purchasing, and sales leadership to translate business initiatives into financial projections and scenario analyses.
Management and Sponsor Reporting & Analysis
· Maintain and continuously improve the financial model used for internal reporting, sponsor reporting, lender reporting, and management decision-making.
· Analyze actual results vs. budget, forecast, prior year, and PE investment case assumptions
· Provide clear explanations of financial results and business drivers to executive leadership
· Own the monthly and quarterly reporting package delivered to the PE sponsor and board, including flash reports, KPI dashboards, board decks, and covenant compliance tracking.
· Prepare and present management reporting with variance-to-budget and variance-to-prior-year commentary for all key operating metrics.
· Track and report on critical distribution KPIs: revenue per SKU, gross margin by product category and channel, inventory turns, fill rate, and working capital metrics.
· Support the preparation of quarterly lender compliance certificates and maintenance covenant calculations.
Commercial & Operational Finance
· Conduct deep-dive profitability analyses by product line, customer segment, geography, and sales channel to identify margin improvement opportunities.
· Support pricing strategy decisions with data-driven analysis of cost inputs, competitive dynamics, and margin impact.
· Monitor working capital efficiency (DSO, DPO, inventory days) and partner with operations on improvement initiatives.
· Build self-service reporting tools and dashboards to reduce manual reporting burden and improve data accessibility for operating leaders.
Process improvement and Systems
· Improve forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and analytical capabilities
· Develop and automate financial reporting tools, dashboards, and KPI reporting
· Enhance data integrity across ERP, Tableau, Microsoft BI and reporting systems
· Establish scalable FP&A processes and controls to support growth
