About the Role

We're seeking a Fraud Analyst to serve as the founding member of our risk team. In this role, your primary mission is to protect our business infrastructure, secure our payment ecosystem, and defend the platform against direct financial scams and payment abuse. This is a unique opportunity to build fraud prevention strategies and rules-based systems from the ground up.

What You Will Do

  • Establish the Foundation: Design, implement, and document our company's initial rules-based fraud detection system to create a secure operational baseline
  • Protect Business Assets: Monitor transactional data, user registrations, and payment flows to identify and mitigate sophisticated merchant-facing financial fraud and payment abuse
  • Leverage Advanced AI: Utilize cutting-edge LLMs and AI tools to analyze complex data patterns, automate workflows, and rapidly draft behavioral logic rules
  • Drive Business Intelligence: Query transactional databases, uncover systemic anomalies, and translate data trends into actionable fraud prevention policies
  • Manage the Revenue Lifecycle: Oversee the end-to-end chargeback dispute process, optimizing evidence submission to maximize recovery while identifying and patching security gaps
  • Align with Customer Operations: Partner closely with the Director of Customer Service to integrate seamless risk assessment workflows into the customer support experience, ensuring legitimate users face zero friction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline
  • 1-3 years of experience in fraud operations, trust & safety, payments risk, or chargeback/dispute operations
  • Highly tech-forward with demonstrated experience leveraging AI platforms (like Claude) to analyze information, structure logical workflows, and scale your daily output
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying databases independently, combined with advanced Excel capabilities for deep-dive transactional analysis
  • Highly autonomous, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and excited by the challenge of building scalable processes where no prior playbook exists
  • Strong foundational understanding of digital payment networks, merchant-side credit card processing, and standard chargeback mechanics
  • Experience with a large payment processor such as Stripe for payments, disputes, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Metabase

The base salary range listed is a guideline. Actual compensation is determined based on skills, experience, and the impact you bring. Total compensation includes base salary, bonus, and equity.

$60,000$80,000 USD
