Freelance American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter- NIC Certified

ContextGlobal is seeking NIC Certified ASL interpreters to provide support to clients across the Washington Metropolitan area, including schools, government agencies, corporate, and community settings.

Role Expectations

• Provide effective communication facilitation between multiple parties, working to and from ASL and English
• Understand cultural and linguistic differences between communities and respond accordingly

Required Qualifications

• Active National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
• Fluency in American Sign Language and English voicing
• At least two years of experience as an ASL interpreter
• Proficient signing and voicing skills
• Strong knowledge of ASL and Deaf culture

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Completion of an accredited Interpreter Training Program

• Knowledge of educational, corporate, and/or community vocabulary
• Self-motivated, well-organized, and dependable with paperwork and timekeeping
• Adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct

Pre-Employment Screenings
Depending on the assignment, the successful candidate may be required to complete:

• TB screening
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Drug test
