This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Freelance Copywriter - PAAB specialization based in Canada.

This freelance role is focused on creating high-quality pharmaceutical advertising copy for PAAB-regulated brands.
You will bring deep regulatory expertise to healthcare communications designed to engage healthcare professionals and support meaningful action.
The position combines creative writing with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical promotion, compliance, and the PAAB review process.
You will collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced agency environment.
The role offers the opportunity to contribute your expertise to sophisticated healthcare campaigns while working independently and managing multiple priorities.
The engagement is remote and structured for approximately 30–40 hours per week, with Canada preferred while remaining open to candidates across North America.
The initial contract runs through the end of the year, with potential for extension based on business needs and performance.

Accountabilities:

  • Pharmaceutical Copywriting: Develop clear, compelling, and strategically aligned copy for PAAB-regulated pharmaceutical brands, with a strong focus on communications directed toward healthcare professionals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Apply a thorough understanding of PAAB requirements and the pharmaceutical advertising review process to ensure copy is accurate, compliant, and appropriate for regulatory submission.
  • Client Collaboration: Work directly with clients to understand communication objectives, incorporate feedback, and deliver copy that meets both strategic and regulatory expectations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with creative, strategy, medical, regulatory, and other multidisciplinary teams to develop cohesive healthcare communications.
  • Independent Delivery: Manage writing assignments independently, balancing multiple priorities, deadlines, revisions, and stakeholder feedback within a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Quality and Craft: Bring strong creative judgment and attention to detail to every deliverable, ensuring the work is engaging, precise, and aligned with the needs of pharmaceutical audiences.
  • Requirements

    • Professional Experience: 8+ years of experience writing for PAAB-regulated pharmaceutical brands, with demonstrated expertise in healthcare and promotional communications.
    • PAAB Expertise: Strong knowledge of HCP and promotional copywriting and a thorough understanding of the PAAB review process are required.
    • Certification: PAAB Certification 1.0 and/or 2.0 is preferred and will be considered a valuable advantage.
    • Client and Team Collaboration: Comfortable working directly with clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and refine communications.
    • Agency Environment: Able to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced agency setting.
    • Communication and Judgment: Strong writing, communication, attention-to-detail, and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to translate complex pharmaceutical information into clear and compelling copy.
    • Benefits

      • Hourly Compensation: CAD $100–$120 per hour, with the final rate determined based on factors including work location, skills, education, and prior experience.
      • Remote Work: Fully remote engagement, with candidates based in Canada preferred and applicants required to be located in North America.
