Position Summary
Decima International is seeking an experienced Freelance Backend Developer to build and/or complete the backend functionality of the company website. The freelancer will work with the existing website design/frontend and internal stakeholders to deliver a reliable, secure, maintainable, and scalable backend.
The developer should be comfortable working independently, translating business requirements into technical solutions, integrating frontend components and third-party services, and taking ownership through deployment and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop the website’s backend architecture.
- Develop and maintain APIs required by the frontend.
- Implement database structures and backend business logic.
- Integrate contact forms, CMS functionality, email notifications, third-party APIs, or other website services as required.
- Connect backend services with the existing frontend.
- Ensure appropriate authentication, authorization, data validation, and website security.
- Optimize backend performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Configure development, staging, and production environments as needed.
- Support cloud/server deployment.
- Implement source control and an appropriate deployment/CI/CD process.
- Troubleshoot backend and integration issues.
- Test APIs and backend functionality before launch.
- Produce clear technical documentation.
- Complete code and credential handover to Decima International at project closure.
- Provide post-launch support during an agreed warranty/support period.
Required Qualifications
- Strong professional backend/software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing REST APIs / Web APIs.
- Experience developing production web applications.
- Strong understanding of databases and backend architecture.
- Experience integrating frontend applications with backend services.
- Familiarity with cloud deployment, preferably AWS, Azure, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Git, Docker, deployment processes, and basic CI/CD.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, performance optimization, and maintainability.
- Ability to work independently against milestones and deadlines.
- Strong English communication and technical documentation skills.
Preferred: ASP.NET Core/C# or Python/Django/Flask experience; prior corporate website projects; CMS integration; experience taking a website from development through production deployment.
Freelancer Deliverables
A successful engagement should result in a fully functioning backend, completed frontend/backend integration, deployed production environment, tested APIs and forms, source-code handover, technical documentation, access/credential handover, and a defined post-launch support period.
