Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team on a contract basis for an upcoming project with a high‑profile client. The successful candidate will build out the cloud infrastructure within a private AWS environment and create robust CI/CD pipelines for our development teams. This hands‑on role is ideal for a seasoned engineer experienced in delivering production‑grade infrastructure that is reliable, efficient and observable.
Key Responsibilities
- CI/CD Pipeline Development: Design, implement and maintain end‑to‑end continuous integration and continuous deployment workflows to support rapid, reliable releases.
- Application Deployment: Deploy, optimise and provide technical support for serverless containerised applications.
- Database Management: Provision, configure and tune relational databases, ensuring high availability, performance, security and backup/recovery strategies.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Build and manage all infrastructure declaratively using IaC frameworks.
- Monitoring & Observability: Implement logging, monitoring and alerting solutions for all services to ensure system health and rapid incident response.
- Security & Compliance: Apply best practices for IAM, secrets management, network security and compliance within the AWS ecosystem.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal development teams to streamline deployment processes and foster a strong DevOps culture.
- Documentation: Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation of infrastructure, pipelines and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior capacity.
- Extensive, demonstrable experience with AWS as the primary cloud platform, including deep experience building and deploying serverless and event‑driven cloud applications on AWS.
- Proven track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, ECS, EKS).
- Hands‑on experience with relational databases, including Amazon RDS and/or Aurora – covering setup, scaling, optimisation and maintenance.
- Proficiency with at least one Infrastructure as Code framework (Terraform, Pulumi or CDK).
- Strong understanding of networking, security and AWS Well‑Architected Framework principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certifications (e.g. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)
- Experience building, running and optimising Docker container images.
- Solid scripting/programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash or Node.js).
- Familiarity with cost optimisation strategies within AWS.
- Experience with database migration and schema management tools.
