FREIGHT DISPATCHER

PAY RANGE: $18.00–$22.00 PER HOUR

Danner’s Incorporated is looking for an experienced Freight Dispatcher to join our Freight Division and play a critical role in coordinating freight movements in a fast-paced, 24/7 maritime transportation environment.
This is more than answering phones and assigning drivers. You will be at the center of our freight operation, coordinating drivers and vehicles, communicating with customers, monitoring active jobs, solving problems, and making real-time decisions that keep freight moving safely and efficiently.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Freight Dispatcher, you will coordinate the timely pickup and delivery of shipments while serving as an important communication link between our customers, drivers, supervisors, and management.
You will be responsible for:
Dispatching & Transportation Coordination
- Monitor and respond to incoming calls, emails, and customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Schedule and dispatch drivers and vehicles based on job requirements and operational priorities.
- Coordinate timely pickups and deliveries while ensuring jobs are properly assigned and scheduled.
- Clearly communicate job details, instructions, locations, timelines, and special requirements to drivers, supervisors, and customers.
- Monitor driver locations, job progress, timelines, and status throughout the operation.
- Adjust schedules and resources as conditions change.
- Help ensure freight movements are performed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and maritime procedures.
- Efficiently manage available drivers and vehicles to minimize delays and operational disruptions.
Customer Service
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding freight movements and scheduling.
- Provide timely updates and communicate changes or delays professionally.
- Work directly with customers to coordinate special requests, schedule changes, and service needs.
- Resolve customer concerns and operational issues quickly and professionally.
- Maintain a calm, courteous, and solution-focused attitude, even in high-pressure situations.
- Represent Danner’s Incorporated and its values in every customer interaction.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain accurate notes, records, and job documentation within dispatch systems.
- Enter and communicate information quickly and accurately.
- Assist with the efficient management of drivers, vehicles, and other operational resources.
- Support Freight Management with operational assignments and follow-through.
- Maintain accurate information throughout the dispatch process.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities and remain focused when the operation gets busy.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of dispatching experience in security, transportation, logistics, or a related field. Maritime industry experience is preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
- TWIC Card required.
- Must be at least 24 years of age.
- Strong typing and data-entry skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively use dispatching and operational systems.
- Strong English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Basic spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills required.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, customers, supervisors, and management.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and follow-through skills.
- Knowledge of maritime terminology, transportation, and logistics is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is primarily an office-based position in a fast-paced, time-sensitive maritime transportation environment.
The position requires:
- Extended periods of sitting at a computer and using a telephone.
- Frequent computer, keyboard, and data-entry work.
- Manual dexterity for clerical and computer-related tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and stooping as needed.
- Sufficient vision, with or without corrective lenses, to perform required duties.
- Sufficient hearing and speech to effectively communicate by telephone, radio, and in person.
- Ability to occasionally operate company vehicles when required for Night Dispatch operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
This is a 24/7/365 operation.
The Freight Dispatcher must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include:
- Early mornings
- Daytime hours
- Late evenings
- Overnight shifts
- Weekends
- Holidays
Flexibility is essential because freight operations and customer needs do not always follow a traditional Monday-through-Friday schedule.
