Freight Sales Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Freight Sales Manager to help grow our customer base and manage freight accounts across FTL/PTL for Rail and Road. This role is ideal for someone with foundational logistics or sales experience who is ready to build strong customer relationships, close deals, and grow within a fast-paced freight environment.
You’ll work closely with operations, pricing, and carrier partners to deliver reliable transportation solutions while meeting revenue and margin goals.
Key Responsibilities
•
Identify, qualify, and develop new freight customers through outbound prospecting, referrals, and inbound leads
•
Manage and grow a portfolio of small to mid-sized shipper accounts
•
Understand customer shipping needs and propose tailored logistics solutions (FTL, LTL, intermodal, rail, etc.)
•
Prepare and present freight quotes, pricing proposals, and service offerings
•
Negotiate rates and service terms with customers while maintaining margin targets
•
Coordinate closely with operations teams to ensure smooth execution of shipments
•
Track sales activity, pipeline, and forecasts using CRM tools
•
Maintain strong post-sale relationships to drive repeat business and account growth
•
Stay informed on market trends, capacity changes, and competitor activity
Required Qualifications
•
1–3+ years of experience in freight sales, logistics, or transportation (brokerage, forwarder, or carrier experience preferred)
•
Basic understanding of freight modes and pricing structures
•
Strong communication and negotiation skills
•
Comfortable with cold calling, prospecting, and relationship building
•
Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment
•
Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
•
Results-driven mindset with a strong sense of ownership
Preferred Qualifications
•
Experience working with TMS and pricing tools
•
Experience selling rail space, intermodal capacity, or rail-focused logistics solutions (strong bonus)
•
Existing book of business (a plus, not required)
•
Knowledge of domestic freight markets
•
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred but not required)
