Front End Associate - Cashier
The Store Cooperator: Our Cooperators are the energetic team that greets and serves our owners and customers. Their productivity fuels our cooperative business mission - to operate our grocery store as a destination for healthy food and community well-being. Our Cooperators are flexible, dependable, and adaptable to change. They are keen to learn every aspect of the natural foods business. Cooperators are cross-trained to work anywhere in the store: from cashiering and stocking shelves, to prepping produce and serving deli customers. They take personal responsibility for their work. Full-Time (35-40 hours) and Part-Time Applicants (24 hours) will be considered.
Shifts are between 6am and 8:30 pm with some evening shifts required each week.
Weekend availability is required for at least one weekend day/week.

- Starts at $15.50/hour

Essential Responsibilities and Functions
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Provides outstanding and advanced internal and external service.
- Fulfills daily cleaning tasks, cleanup/upkeep of personal areas, and periodic cleaning.
- Works with systems to improve customer service, ownership processes, and special ordering. Works with special orders for the department.
- Upholds and models Customer Service Pledge.
- Rings customer transactions and ensures customer satisfaction during their final touch point in our store.
- Offers suggestions and product information to customers.
- Maintains familiarity with all areas of the store in order to best assist customers.
- Responds to requests from customers to research product availability, price and quality issues.
PURCHASING & PRICING
- Pulls product and installs signage according to departmental plans.
- Ensures that unsalable items are recorded and returned or disposed of following established procedures.
- Communicates needs of Owners and customers to Coordinators and Managers.
- Maintains accurate pricing for profitability and price image. Ensures accurate costs, margins and data in Point of Sale (POS) system, including inventory counts.
MERCHANDISING & PROMOTIONS
- Helps stock in all departments as asigned.
- Maintains attractive displays and accurate shelf/bin tags and sale signs.
DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS
- Completes cleaning schedule, departmental checklists, etc..
- Takes training as designed for the position.
- Keeps accurate records as directed.
- Ensures that department areas are in clean, orderly condition meeting Health Department and customer service standards.
- Communicates equipment needs to department Coordinators and Manager.
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
- Attends meetings as assigned.
- Accountable for store-wide communication practices, including emails, logs, whiteboards, etc.
- Utilizes systems/processes created to streamline efficiencies within the Co-op; accepts changes, and adapts to changing needs of the business.
- Maintains correspondence with staff, vendors, customers, and Owners on behalf of the Co-op for department and store in general through email, phone, etc.
- Utilizes team and departmental information on shared team drives and follows organizational protocol for use of technology resources.
- Assists with problem solving and quality improvement processes.
- Recommends changes in, or better utilization of resources.
- Communicates and coordinates departmental needs with Retail Manager and Coordinators.
- Adheres to the Staff Agreement.
- Supports decisions made by store leadership.
- Strives for continuous improvement.
LEADERSHIP
- Accountable for assisting with human resources, including, but not limited to:
- Evaluations
- Completion of training checklists and training programs.
- Assists when needed with break coverage.
- Completes store checklists regarding state of the store, safety, and cleaning, on a daily and scheduled basis.
- Follows conflict resolution and safety procedures.
- Works to ensure honest and open lines of communication within and among departments and staff.
- Communicates in a clear, direct, and respectful manner.
- Models organizational service goals and standards.
Supports organizational goals and contributes to various departmental needs.
