About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Front End Developer to join our banking division at our Hong Kong Island office. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to lead a team of 6 front-end developers whilst driving the design and delivery of innovative user-facing solutions for a major bank. As Lead Front End Developer, you will be responsible for architecting scalable front-end systems, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring the highest standards of code quality and user experience. This role is strategic in nature and offers significant visibility within both our client organisation and Inspire Hong Kong.

Key responsibilities

• Leading and managing a team of front-end developers, providing technical direction, mentoring and performance management

• Designing and architecting scalable, maintainable front-end solutions aligned with banking industry standards and best practices

• Establishing coding standards, architectural patterns and development processes to ensure consistency and quality across the team

• Collaborating with product managers, UX/UI designers and backend developers to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Conducting code reviews and quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of code excellence

• Identifying and implementing performance optimisation strategies to enhance application responsiveness and user experience

• Managing technical debt and ensuring continuous improvement of the codebase

• Liaising with senior stakeholders and clients to communicate progress, risks and technical recommendations

• Staying current with emerging front-end technologies and evaluating their applicability to banking solutions

• Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of new front-end development team members

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of professional front-end development experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior technical role

• Expert-level proficiency in modern front-end frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular or Vue.js

• Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3

• Demonstrated experience building complex, user-centric applications within regulated financial services environments

• Solid understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns and clean code practices

• Experience with responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG) and cross-browser compatibility

• Proficiency with version control systems, build tools and CI/CD pipelines

• Strong experience with RESTful APIs and integration with backend services

• Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor junior developers and foster collaborative working environments

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Understanding of banking regulations, compliance requirements and security best practices

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)

• Preferred experience with component libraries, design systems or front-end tooling

• Preferred knowledge of performance monitoring tools and web analytics
