Front End Developer (Arabic and English)
Summary
Rebuild a B2B AI platform’s front end into a consumer-facing Arabic-English app using Flutter, focusing on RTL support, voice-first interactions, and intuitive UX for everyday users.
Smart Operator is the first Operator Performance System: an AI-driven platform that gives operators dynamic, on-the-job access to their company's knowledge base, exactly when and where they need it. Rather than functioning as another LMS, Smart Operator brings operational management, quality assurance, training and development, and organisational culture together in one tool, turning static SOPs into living, contextualised guidance that operators can access by voice, on the job, in the moment.
The Role:
Smart Operator is a proven, live B2B platform today. Your job is to rebuild its front end as a consumer-facing app, in Arabic and English.
The backend, the AI, and the product fundamentals are done. The platform is voice-first, and the voice agent already exists - building it is not your role. Your role is everything the consumer sees and touches around it: the screens, flows, and interactions that turn a powerful operator tool into an app everyday consumers find effortless.
This is a build-led role with real design ownership, you'll shape how it looks and feels, not just implement finished screens. Our front end is written in Flutter; if you have solid coding experience and haven't used Flutter specifically, you'll pick it up. You'll report to the CTO, working closely with the CEO and the wider team.
What You'll Do:
- Rebuild the existing B2B front end into a consumer-facing experience, in Arabic and English
- Own the Arabic experience in code: full RTL support, layouts, and Arabic typography that feels native, not translated
- Build the front-end surfaces around our voice-first experiences (the voice agent itself already exists)
- Own performance, stability, and code quality across iOS and Android
- Craft interactions that feel fast, clean, and intuitive for everyday consumers, not just trained operators
- Help shape the consumer design language and build it into a reusable front-end component system
- Work with the engineers against existing, documented APIs and data flows
- Test with real users, iterate quickly, and help set the bar for consumer product quality as we scale
What We’re Looking For:
- Fluent Arabic, written and spoken - you'll be building Arabic-language product experiences, so this is non-negotiable
- A proven track record building and shipping consumer apps in Arabic: RTL implementation, Arabic typography, and culturally-fluent UX
- Solid coding experience: you can build and ship production software and own features end-to-end
- Strong front-end fundamentals: state management, working with APIs, and an instinct for app performance and polish
- A genuine design instinct and a sharp eye for the small interactions that make an app feel effortless
- Comfort working independently in a fast-moving start-up where priorities shift as we learn
- Curiosity: you dig into how things work, you try things, and you're genuinely interested in where AI and consumer product are heading
- Drive and high ownership. You set a high bar, hold yourself to it, and move without waiting to be told
- Based in Cape Town, ideally, as this is where the team sits
This is a hybrid build-and-design role, and we know that mix is rare. If you're strong on the engineering with real design sensibility, or a designer who genuinely ships production code, we want to hear from you.
Nice to Have:
- Flutter experience - our front end is built in Flutter, but strong coders will pick it up
- Experience building front ends for voice or conversational products
- Experience shipping consumer products in the Gulf / MENA market
- Exposure to AI-powered product features (chat interfaces, recommendations, generative content)
How We Work:
- A small, high-trust team where you'll have real influence over product direction
- Direct collaboration with founders and leadership - high visibility, high impact
- Sprint-based working rhythm, in the office 2–3 days a week as we value high collaboration (and, as a team, we have lunch together - this is important to us)
