Front End Engineer

On behalf of our Telco client, Procom is searching for a Principal Front-End Engineer for a permanent role. This position is a remote position based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Principal Front-End Engineer - Job Description:

We're rebuilding our front-end organization from the ground up, and we're looking for senior engineers who can lead that transformation — not just contribute to it. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role for someone who can architect and build fast, accessible, and elegant web and mobile applications.

Principal Front-End Engineer - Responsibilities:

• Help rebuild and re-architect the front-end organization's technical foundation, patterns, and standards as we scale the team

• Build a state-driven UI that adapts seamlessly to network-specific quirks

• Support legacy and new plans simultaneously

• Create elegant, highly accessible (a11y-first) interfaces that work across platforms

• Own mission-critical projects, including a next-generation agentic AI chatbot redefining how customers interact with mobile support

• Lead the design and construction of modern front-end features using React, TypeScript, and CSS

• Architect scalable systems supporting millions of user interactions across different networks

Principal Front-End Engineer - Mandatory Skills:

• 6+ years of front-end engineering experience building production-grade UIs

• Demonstrated experience leading technical direction

• Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and CSS-in-JS or equivalent styling approaches

• Experience with state management and data-fetching libraries (e.g., TanStack Query, Redux, Zustand)

• Strong eye for UX/UI detail, accessibility, and responsive design

• Comfort dealing with complexity: legacy code, varied device support, and cross-platform consistency

• Self-starter who can define and deliver high-leverage solutions with minimal oversight

Principal Front-End Engineer – Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Rust

• Mobile development experience (React Native)

• Telecom-related application experience

• Experience specifically rebuilding or re-architecting a front-end codebase/org
