Front-End Team Lead
You will lead a talented group of engineers in building the technology powering the Operation Center, the real-time heartbeat of Via's global service. You will shape the Front-End architecture and foster a culture of high-quality craft, directly shaping the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of riders. You will leverage modern AI to outpace traditional workflows while continuously driving your team's growth and elevating the way products are built.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Front-End engineers, supporting their professional growth and helping them reach their full potential
- Own both the people and operational aspects of the team, ensuring effective execution and continuous improvement
- Drive technical excellence through architecture decisions, design discussions, and code reviews
- Take ownership of improving development processes, engineering practices, and the way the team works
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to build impactful user experiences
- Understand the product deeply and make technical decisions that create real value for users
- Implement and improve Front-End tools and libraries used across Via
- Improve the user experience across Via's platform
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or a similar field
- At least 2 years of experience leading and managing a team of engineers
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience with React or similar Front-End frameworks
- Strong technical abilities with the ability to quickly understand complex systems and make thoughtful decisions
- Experience with architecture, system design, and code reviews
- A proactive and ownership-driven mindset, with a passion for continuously improving products and processes
- Experience with map-based application development (Mapbox, Google JS SDK, etc.) — an advantage
- Experience with backend development (Python) — an advantage
