Front End Web Developer

REMOTE | Full-Time | Reports to Ecommerce Manager

JOB SUMMARY

As we continue to grow our portfolio of brands, we are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Front End Web Developer to join our team remotely. This role supports day-to-day ecommerce operations across our 6 Shopify storefronts, company Wix website, and additional custom sites, working closely with our Ecommerce Manager and serving as an internal resource alongside our external development agency.

The ideal candidate is technically capable, highly organized, and comfortable shifting between front-end development, site quality assurance, content operations, and accessibility work. This is a hands-on role with real ownership across several web properties. You will be the person who catches issues before they become problems, keeps our sites running cleanly, and fills in the gaps that keep our ecommerce engine moving.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Front End Development and Site Ownership

  • Own all updates and maintenance for our Wix company website and additional custom sites (such as our parts website), handling front-end edits, content updates, and ongoing upkeep
  • Build custom landing pages across Shopify and Wix using a combination of custom HTML/CSS and existing Shopify sections, delivering on-brand, functional pages.
  • Implement responsive, mobile-first front-end updates across all web properties, consistent with each brand's visual identity and standards
  • Ensure all owned sites reflect current brand standards and are free of errors, broken links, and outdated content
  • Serve as an internal support resource alongside our external development agency, helping manage and track tasks, filling in on smaller work items, and reducing agency dependency for quick fixes
  • Act as a first line of response for emergency front-end errors on Shopify storefronts, resolving straightforward issues directly without escalating to the agency
  • Provide an extra layer of QC and testing on Shopify development work before changes go live, catching issues early and communicating clearly with the agency when revisions are needed
  • Help the Ecommerce Manager stay organized on active development projects by tracking task status, flagging blockers, and following up on open items in Asana and Notion

Site QC and Monitoring

  • Conduct regular quality checks across all storefronts and web properties to identify broken links, display errors, layout issues, and functionality gaps
  • Monitor site performance and surface improvement opportunities to the Ecommerce Manager
  • Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure a consistent, error-free experience for all users
  • Document and track identified issues in Asana or Notion, following up to confirm resolution

ADA and Accessibility

  • Implement front-end accessibility fixes in line with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, including color contrast, keyboard navigation, ARIA labels, and semantic HTML
  • Audit pages for accessibility compliance and prioritize remediation in coordination with the Ecommerce Manager
  • Stay current on ADA compliance requirements as they apply to ecommerce websites

Shopify Admin and Content Operations

  • Edit products in Shopify & Salsify, including but not limited to descriptions, images, and meta fields.
  • Build and manage collection pages, including rules-based and manual collections
  • Create and publish blog content within Shopify, formatting posts and applying appropriate tagging and categorization
  • Make content updates and layout adjustments using Shopify's theme customizer, including banners, sections, and promotional content
  • Customize and maintain Shopify transactional notification emails, including order confirmation, shipping, and other customer-facing templates
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across all product and content entries, upholding brand standards and internal SOPs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 or more years of hands-on experience with Shopify, including theme customization using Liquid and familiarity with the Shopify admin
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; comfort editing and writing front-end code independently
  • Experience with Shopify admin operations including products, collections, blogs, notification email templates, and the theme customizer
  • Experience managing or updating Wix websites
  • Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and the ability to implement code-level fixes
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, document, and communicate site errors clearly
  • Experience working alongside or supporting an external development agency -- comfortable reviewing work, managing task flow, and flagging issues
  • Proficient in Asana and Notion for task management and project tracking
  • Self-directed and able to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities in a fully remote environment
  • Excellent written communication skills for async collaboration across internal teams and external partners
  • PLUS: Familiarity with cookie consent platforms (OneTrust, Cookiebot, or similar) and the ability to test and manage consent banners and privacy configurations on site
  • A solutions-oriented mindset, when something is broken, this person fixes it
