Frontend Developer / Game Developer / iGaming Fully Remote
Summary
Builds TypeScript slot games on a PixiJS engine, integrating animations, shaders, and sound for regulated iGaming markets.
About the company
GameCode was founded in 2017. We build cutting-edge online slot games for regulated markets across the USA, Canada, and beyond. Our team is 50+ people strong, and we're looking for someone who lives and breathes slot game frontend to help us keep raising the bar.
About the job
We're looking for a TypeScript / frontend developer with hands-on iGaming experience to join the team building our slot games — the part players actually see, touch and hear. You'll work on our in-house PixiJS-based game engine and on the games built on top of it, from reels and free spins to jackpots and big win sequences. This is a long-term opportunity to work on games played by real players in highly regulated markets.
What you'll do
Build slot games in TypeScript on our in-house PixiJS engine — reels, steppers, free spins, jackpots, bonus features, big win sequences
Implement game presentation: Spine animations, particle effects, shaders, tweens, sound design integration (Howler + audiosprites)
Work with our Actor–Scene–Controller architecture, game state machines and typed message bus — and extend the shared engine when a game needs something new
Integrate games with our Remote Gaming Server over WebSocket, and with operator-specific integrations
Make it run smoothly and look right everywhere: desktop, mobile landscape and portrait, on low-end devices too
Cooperate with game designers, artists and math/backend developers to turn a game design doc into a shipped game
Handle jurisdictional and compliance requirements (autoplay rules, session timeouts, responsible gaming, certification builds)
Our stack
Language & tooling: TypeScript, yarn 4, Vite, ESLint, Jest, GitLab CI, private npm registry
Rendering & animation: PixiJS (WebGL), Spine, @pixi/particle-emitter, pixi-filters, custom GLSL shaders, Tween.js
AI-assisted development: Claude Code is part of our daily workflow — we maintain our own repo-specific agent instructions, skills and migration playbooks
UI & audio: Preact, SCSS, i18next, Howler.js
Asset pipeline: WebP / spritesheet / bitmap font / Spine / audio exporters (all in-house, TypeScript)
Integration: WebSocket RGS protocol, mock backend for local development, operator integration adapters
What we expect from you
3+ years of experience in software engineering
2+ years of experience with TypeScript / JavaScript
2+ years of experience in the iGaming / slots market
1+ years of hands-on experience with PixiJS or a comparable 2D WebGL / canvas game engine (Phaser, Cocos, custom)
Comfort with OOP, composition and design patterns — our engine is class-based and inheritance-heavy by design
Confident, everyday use of AI coding tools — but you own the result. We expect you to understand every line that lands in the repo, to review and correct AI output, and to have the judgement to tell what's worth delegating to an AI
Good command of English (B2+)
Remote work done the grown-up way: hours are flexible and we don't track anyone, so we simply ask that you're open about when you work and reachable on Slack during the hours you've said you're around. If plans change — a late start, an afternoon off, a heads-down block — just let us know. We care about it being predictable, not about it being 9-to-5
Bonus points
Spine runtime experience (skins, mixing, event-driven animation flows)
GLSL / shader work and WebGL performance profiling on low-end mobile
Experience writing your own AI tooling — custom agent instructions, skills, prompts or scripts that make a real codebase easier to work in
Familiarity with regulated markets (UK, US, Canada, etc.) and certification builds
Experience with reskins / white-label game variants and multi-skin codebases
Preact / React, or building UI layers on top of a canvas game
Contributions to open-source or personal game/graphics projects
What we offer
Fully remote work, flexible hours
Competitive B2B contract (rate depending on experience)
Training budget
A flat, no-nonsense team where your input actually matters
A mature, shared engine and 30+ shipped titles to learn from — you won't be starting from an empty folder
