Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week), 9am - 5pm Eastern Standard Time

Our Partner is a US-based e-commerce retailer running a custom headless storefront. They are looking for an experienced Frontend Developer with strong React, React Router, and Shopify Hydrogen experience to help maintain and improve their existing headless storefront, and potentially support future migrations of additional e-commerce sites to Shopify/Hydrogen.
This is primarily a frontend role. Their internal team handles most of the backend product and catalog data work, but this developer should understand the broader Shopify ecosystem and be comfortable troubleshooting issues involving Shopify APIs, third-party integrations, search, CMS, analytics, and customer-facing functionality.
Strong UI/UX judgment is also important. They are not looking for a dedicated designer, but need someone who can take business requirements and rough mockups, identify usability or technical limitations, recommend practical alternatives, and translate them into polished e-commerce experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve a custom Shopify Hydrogen storefront using React and React Router
- Build responsive, accessible interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Work with Shopify's Storefront API, GraphQL, collections, products, variants, metafields, and other Shopify data
- Translate business requirements and rough mockups into intuitive, functional e-commerce experiences
- Evaluate proposed features for technical feasibility and recommend alternatives when API or platform limitations exist
- Troubleshoot issues across the storefront, Shopify data/APIs, browser behavior, and third-party integrations
- Work with Storyblok headless CMS and Algolia search and recommendation functionality
- Implement and troubleshoot e-commerce analytics and marketing integrations
- Support e-commerce SEO requirements including redirects, canonical tags, structured data, breadcrumbs, metadata, and indexability
- Improve frontend performance, usability, and maintainability
- Communicate technical constraints, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical team members
- Work effectively within and improve an existing custom codebase
