Frontend Engineer
emagine Frontend Engineer
Summary
Build and maintain an Angular SPA serving both an external user portal and an internal back-office app in a regulated environment — implementing OIDC/OAuth2 auth, multilingual i18n, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and REST API integration, with unit/component testing in Jest. Works alongside backend engineers, analysts, and architects through rollout.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Frontend Engineer to join a project focused on the development of a modern web portal and back-office application within a regulated environment.
The role will initially focus on the development of the frontend for both an external user portal and an internal back-office interface, including authentication and authorization integration. Following the initial setup, you will contribute to ongoing frontend development alongside backend implementation, with further involvement in configuration, integration, and customer rollout activities.
You will work closely with Backend Engineers, Business Analysts, Requirements Engineers, and Solution Architects to deliver a secure, accessible, multilingual, and maintainable frontend solution.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and maintain an Angular Single Page Application (SPA) for an external user portal and internal back-office interface.
Work within an established frontend technology stack and contribute to frontend architecture and implementation decisions.
Integrate with shared enterprise UI/component libraries to ensure visual and behavioral consistency across applications.
Implement authentication and authorization flows, including OIDC/OAuth2, identity provider integration, and session management.
Manage internationalization (i18n) for multilingual applications, including German, French, and Italian, using frameworks such as ngx-translate.
Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and support automated accessibility testing using tools such as Axe within CI/CD pipelines.
Consume and integrate REST APIs exposed by backend services, working closely with Backend Engineers on API contracts and changes.
Develop and maintain unit and component tests using Jest or comparable testing frameworks, contributing to high code quality and test coverage.
Contribute to frontend integration activities, including portal configuration, correspondence-related functionality, and customer rollout support.
Participate in frontend architectural discussions and contribute to technical documentation and architectural decision records (ADRs).
Mandatory Requirements
5+ years of professional experience as a Frontend Engineer.
Strong professional experience with Angular (current major versions) and TypeScript.
Solid experience integrating Single Page Applications with REST APIs, including OpenAPI/Swagger-based APIs.
Hands-on experience implementing OIDC/OAuth2 authentication and authorization flows in frontend applications.
Practical knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements and automated accessibility testing tools such as Axe.
Experience with internationalization frameworks, ideally ngx-translate, in multilingual applications.
Strong experience writing frontend unit and component tests, preferably using Jest or a similar framework.
Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, for documentation and collaboration in an international team.
Native Portuguese speaker or Portuguese proficiency at C2 level.
Desirable Skills
Experience working with shared or enterprise component libraries.
Previous experience in regulated environments, such as public administration, e-government, financial services, or other highly regulated sectors.
Familiarity with Playwright or comparable E2E testing frameworks, particularly with a focus on testable and maintainable component design.
Experience with multi-tenant or multi-configuration frontend applications, including branding, feature toggles, or environment-specific configurations.
Basic understanding of Docker and Kubernetes concepts, enabling effective collaboration with DevOps teams.
Collaboration
You will work collaboratively across several disciplines, including:
Backend Engineers — coordination on API contracts, data models, and integration requirements.
Business Analysts / Requirements Engineers — collaboration on use cases, wireframes/mockups, functional requirements, and UI acceptance criteria.
Solution Architects — contribution to frontend architecture, technical decisions, and architectural documentation.
Customer-facing teams — eventual collaboration on portal integration, configuration, and rollout-related activities.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong Angular and TypeScript expertise with a solid understanding of modern frontend engineering practices.
You should be comfortable working in a structured, collaborative environment where security, accessibility, internationalization, code quality, and maintainability are key considerations.
Experience in complex or regulated environments is a plus, but above all, we are looking for a proactive engineer who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
