About the Role
As a Frontend-Focused Full Stack Developer (Angular / .NET), you’ll work on a live recruitment platform covering an ATS, careers sites and a job board used every day by schools, trusts and candidates. This is an established product with real traffic rather than a new build.
A key focus of the role is modernising the frontend. A large part of the platform currently runs on AngularJS and is being progressively migrated to Angular 21. You’ll maintain the existing AngularJS codebase, translate existing functionality into the modern Angular stack and build new Angular 21 features.
While the role is primarily frontend-focused, .NET Core and ASP.NET MVC development experience are also required. You’ll contribute to the platform while helping deliver the migration in stages, maintaining performance and keeping the live product stable throughout the transition.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the existing AngularJS codebase while it remains live.
- Translate AngularJS components and features into Angular 21 in stages without breaking existing production functionality.
- Build new features in Angular 21 using standalone components, signals for state, OnPush and sensible boundaries within the Nx monorepo.
- Turn business requirements into technical work, breaking features down and estimating the work required.
- Identify and raise problems early rather than waiting until the end of a sprint.
- Work in sprints and keep tickets up to date so the wider team has clear visibility of progress.
- Review pull requests and have your own pull requests reviewed.
- Keep up to date with the direction of Angular and identify when new developments are worth adopting.
- Contribute to the frontend migration with a focus on performance, staged delivery and maintaining the stability of the live platform.
Requirements
- Strong AngularJS experience, with the ability to confidently read, maintain and rewrite an existing live codebase.
- Two years or more of experience building and shipping Angular applications using Angular 20 and above.
- Strong TypeScript skills.
- .NET Core development experience.
- ASP.NET MVC development experience.
- Strong modern Angular knowledge, including standalone components, signals, the new control flow syntax and RxJS where it is the right tool.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to prioritise and manage your own work without needing to be chased.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience migrating a legacy frontend to a modern framework.
- Experience working with Nx monorepos, PrimeNG, Angular Material and Vitest.
- Experience with C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Web API and Entity Framework.
- SQL Server experience, with the ability to read and write a decent query.
- Experience with IIS and Windows Server.
- Experience with Bitbucket, JIRA, TeamCity and Octopus Deploy.
