Frontend Software Engineer @ Tern Systems
Summary
Frontend Software Engineer building and maintaining web-based operator interfaces for mission-critical Air Traffic Control systems at Tern Systems. Day-to-day work involves TypeScript/React development, automated testing (Vitest/Jest, Playwright/Cypress), and CI/CD, on-site in Warsaw with collaboration across a multidisciplinary team and Iceland HQ.

Professional Requirements
- University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Professional experience building production web frontends with TypeScript and React (or a comparable component framework)
- Strong command of modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and browser fundamentals (rendering, state, async, debugging with browser devtools)
- Experience writing automated tests — unit and end-to-end (e.g. Vitest/Jest and Playwright/Cypress)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and development tooling (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams
- English language proficiency, both written and verbal
- At least 3 years of professional experience in software development is preferred
- Familiarity with modern build tooling (Vite/Webpack) and modular or plugin-based frontend architectures
- Experience with state management at scale (Redux Toolkit or similar) and a component library (e.g. Mantine, MUI, Chakra)
- Experience with data-visualization or mapping libraries (D3, MapLibre, Leaflet)
- Experience with real-time data (WebSockets) and/or desktop delivery via Electron
- A strong eye for accessibility, usability, and performance in operator-facing UIs
- A background in the ATM/ATC domain is a plus
- Solid problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently
- A user-centric approach combined with the ability and willingness to learn
