Frontend Tech Lead
Summary
Lead Guardio's frontend architecture across browser extensions, web and mobile apps, setting quality standards, building design systems, and tackling the toughest coding problems using React, React Native, and TypeScript.
Guardio is one of the fastest-growing companies in consumer cybersecurity - we’ve doubled revenue four years running, passed $150 million in ARR, and now protect over a million people, at a moment when AI has made scams more convincing than ever.
AI has democratized cybercrime: scams that once required sophisticated hacking teams are now cheap, personalized, and everywhere.
Traditional security wasn’t built for this - so we’re building it, protection that sees the person, connects all the dots - and stop attacks and scams wherever vector they come from.
And honestly, we all feel here - it’s just the beginning!
So, what's the job?
Guardio's frontend runs in four places: a browser extension, a web app, a mobile app, and the growth funnel. Four surfaces, four teams, one user who never sees the seams.
We're looking for a Frontend Tech Lead to own that craft across our frontend teams. You'll set the architecture, define the quality bar, and write the code on the hardest problems yourself.
Not a generic fullstack role. Frontend is the discipline here, and you're the authority on it. Hands-on, no direct reports.
You will:
- Advance the frontend architecture across both web and mobile platforms.
- Define the quality bar and make it measurable. Performance budgets, testing strategy, and review standards that hold in the age of AI.
- Build the shared foundation. Design system, component library, and build tooling that every frontend engineer at Guardio works through.
- Take the hardest problems yourself. Remove bottlenecks, speed up infrastructure, solve that time-critical bug in prod.
- Make the engineers around you better through code review, design review, and mentoring across our teams.
- Push how far AI can take frontend work at Guardio, and build the agents, skills, and workflows that let a small group ship like a much larger one.
Sounds great! Am I the right fit?
We're looking for a specific kind of person.
- 5+ years in frontend engineering, with deep React and TypeScript. You've owned complex products from first design through production and kept them healthy afterwards.
- You've been a frontend tech lead before. You owned the technical direction for a team, made the architecture calls, and set the standards. Formal management experience is not required.
- AI-pilled. You build with a coding agent every day, you've built your own workflows, and you know exactly where they break. In production, not in demos.
- You've built at consumer scale. Millions of users, real traffic, and a business that notices when a render path gets slower or a page stops converting.
- You care about craft. UX, accessibility, and polish show up in what you've shipped, and you can explain why a screen feels right.
- You're great to work with. You communicate clearly, argue with evidence, own your mistakes, and bring real energy without the ego.
Talk nerdy to me.
Don't mind if we do. Our tech stack:
- Client: React and React Native in TypeScript
- Backend: Python + Go
- Cloud: Google Cloud on Kubernetes (GKE)
- Data and experimentation: BigQuery, MySQL, Clickhouse, Redis, and our in-house A/B platform
- AI tooling: Claude Code with an internal plugin marketplace of skills, MCP servers, and CLIs
Thinking of a great addition? Let's do it.
