About Engaige
Engaige is the e-commerce AI support agent that autonomously answers and resolves tickets by taking action across the e-commerce stack.
Brands like MR MARVIS, Otrium, Baskèts and HelloPrint use Engaige to scale their customer support without hiring. We go live in hours, resolve 60–80% of supported tickets, and climb toward 90% as the system learns from the team's own work.
We are a small, senior team in Utrecht, with paying customers and a roadmap that moves
About the role
You own features end to end: what we should build, what it should look like, the code, the rollout, and the number that tells you it worked.
You will sit with customers, work out what they actually need, and ship it by yourself or with our small team.
What you will work on
- From 80% to 90%. Our agents resolve 60–80% of supported tickets at go-live. The self-improvement loop learns from the support team's own work and closes the gap. You will be essential in making it better every week.
- Trust and control. Support leads need to see why an agent did what it did, and change its behaviour themselves. Policies, guardrails, reasoning views: every one of those is a
- Measuring a non-deterministic product. Resolution rate, answer quality, escalation correctness. We are building the evals that tell us whether last week's change made the agents better or merely different.
- Agents that act. Refunds, returns, tracking, subscriptions, across Shopify, Gorgias, Zendesk and more. Every new action is an integration problem and a trust problem at once.
How we work
- High urgency. An idea can be in a customer's hands the same day.
- Strong opinions, loosely held. We would rather hear from a customer this week that we were wrong than be right about it next quarter.
- Quality matters. Getting to simple takes longer than shipping everything, and it is worth the time.
- Together, in person. We work from our office in Utrecht, and we prefer it that way: a small team in one room is more fun, and it works better. We do offer flexible working, and the specifics are open to discussion.
We build primarily with Claude Code, Cursor and Codex, and the whole company is organised around working that way.
Our stack
- Frontend: TypeScript, React, TanStack Start
- Infrastructure: GCP, Terraform, GitHub Actions
- Day to day: Cube on BigQuery, Linear, Slack, Sentry
You might be a good fit if you
- Have founder mentality. Hands-on, end to end, no 9-to-5 mentality
- Have 5+ years building and shipping great software, ideally at a startup
- Are genuinely full-stack: you have owned both the backend and what the user sees
- Have taste. You know the difference between a screen that works and one that feels good, and you care about the difference
- Have built with LLMs: prompts, tool use, retrieval, and how these systems fail
- Have opinions about product, can defend them, and drop them when the data disagrees
- Enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team and directly with customers. Even better if you have experience in customer service, CX or eCommerce software, or have been a founding engineer.
What we offer
- A competitive salary based on your experience and skill
- Real ownership: the surface area per person here is larger than it will ever be at a
- Flexibility that runs both ways. We ask you to stand up when it matters, out of genuine interest in the work, and in return we are genuinely flexible with you, including a very flexible vacation policy
