Ellipse is an industry leader in collecting, analysing and delivering live sports performance data. We create innovative products and services across cricket, football, horse racing, rugby and tennis, helping fans, athletes and teams worldwide connect with the sports they love.

The Role

We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our growing team, focusing on football technology. You'll develop and maintain applications, backend services and databases, helping build scalable, secure and high-performing solutions.

Working across the technology stack, you'll collaborate with colleagues to translate business needs into reliable software and contribute to the evolution of our football data platforms. If you're passionate about building great products, solving data challenges and exploring how statistics can transform our understanding of football, we'd love to hear from you.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 2 years' commercial experience developing backend services in Python, ideally using Flask or a similar framework.
  • Experience designing and building APIs using FastAPI or equivalent frameworks, with a solid understanding of API security.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Experience working with containerised applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment and service management, ideally using AWS.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of data engineering and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and GitOps deployment workflows.
  • Familiarity with background task queues and asynchronous processing.
  • Experience working with real-time data or pub/sub messaging.
  • Interest in or experience using AI development tools.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and effective software solutions.
  • Develop and maintain reliable, scalable and secure applications across the football technology stack.
  • Build data processing solutions that collect, aggregate and structure information for efficient searching and analysis.
  • Work with relational databases and APIs to support data-driven products and services.
  • Collaborate on DevOps activities, including CI/CD pipelines, deployments and release management.
  • Contribute to technical improvements, application performance and engineering best practices.

About You:

You're a collaborative, curious engineer who takes pride in writing accurate, reliable code. You enjoy working with others, building relationships across teams and sharing knowledge, while also being comfortable taking ownership of projects independently.

You're adaptable, eager to learn new technologies and confident working in a fast-paced environment. You communicate progress clearly, approach challenges with initiative and enjoy solving complex problems involving data and system architecture. Above all, you're passionate about building useful products and helping your team succeed.

Company Benefits

  • 25 days holiday.
  • Option to work remotely or from our new offices at Edinburgh House, Kennington, London.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Company life assurance.
