Full Stack Developer: Node.js and React | Contract

12-month contract Full Stack Developer role at IQbusiness in Welgemoed, Cape Town (hybrid: 3 days on-site, 2 WFH), building scalable web applications for an international client. Core stack is React and Node.js, with TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, third-party API integration, Docker/CI-CD, and SQL Server/Postgres.
iqbusiness is seeking to employ a Full Stack Developer on a 12-month contract to collaborate with an international client from our offices in Welgemoed, Cape Town, Northern Suburbs. This is a hybrid role (3 days on-site; 2 days WFH).
As a Full Stack Developer with experience in React and Node.js, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with business requirements and modern development best practices. The ideal candidate has strong React experience and solid backend development skills using Node.js.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse requirements for web applications
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using React and Node.js
- Build reusable UI components using Tailwind CSS
- Integrate third-party APIs and services
- Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Optimise applications for performance, scalability, and responsiveness
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices
Minimum Requirements:
- Tertiary Qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years’ experience as a Full Stack Developer using React and Node.js
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- AI Native or AI-enabled background
- Experience with GitHub for version control
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with SQL Server or Postgres
- Exposure to Python and Java is advantageous
- Understanding of modern web development standards and best practices
- Experience working in an Agile environment is a plus
