Summary
Senior full-stack engineer at a financial services employer, leading the transition from Power BI to Databricks while building the technical infrastructure and API layers behind applications. Day to day combines Databricks/Python development, data visualization, PoC work, governance best practices, and mentoring junior engineers.
As a Senior Engineer, you will help lead the transition from Power BI to Databricks while expanding data and application capabilities. You will design and implement the technical infrastructure and API layers underpinning applications, and drive proof-of-concept and early-stage solutions. The role combines full-stack development, data visualization, and API work, with mentorship of a junior team and governance and compliance best practices. In the first six months you’ll shape the function’s vision and infrastructure through close collaboration with stakeholders.
Responsibilities- design and develop the technical infrastructure and API layers behind applications
- contribute to PoC and early-stage solutions
- provide technical leadership through mentoring and upskilling of junior engineers
- establish governance and compliance best practices in collaboration with the team
- define the function's vision, infrastructure, and capabilities in the initial six months through stakeholder engagement
- work with stakeholders to align technical direction with wider business goals
- senior-level experience; ideally in a global banking environment
- strong breadth of technical experience and ability to communicate with technical and business stakeholders
- experience with Databricks, Python, web development, and APIs
