Description

Salary: $125 per hour

This is an excellent opportunity to work in an extremely well-founded startup that is positioned to scale, alongside colleagues with decades of experience in the financial services application sector.

We’re building a team to fulfil our obligations for a blue-chip client to modernise their middle- and front-office applications, and to provide a versatile and feature-rich integration layer.

We’re looking for someone for an initial 12-month contract with the potential to extend or transition into a full-time role.

We use Java Spring Boot for backend components and Lit components for frontends. We have a range of applications you’ll be working on, including legacy systems we are modernising and new greenfield projects.

You’ll be expected to communicate directly with the client on work you’re responsible for, including feature requests, bug reports and timelines.

You must have a proven background in software delivery within financial services, capable of designing and implementing solutions ranging from small components to complete application stacks. You must be able to work at pace and take ownership of your work.

What you’ll bring:

  • Excellent academic qualifications.

  • Strong financial services experience, ideally working with financial systems and integrations (e.g. Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR), Point of Sale (POS) or similar platforms), with a solid understanding of financial products and business workflows.

  • At least 6 years of Java experience, preferably with full-stack development experience including frontends.

  • Enjoy designing and developing new features and functionality.

  • Experience working with modular monoliths and other modern software architecture patterns, along with CI/CD pipelines.

  • Good team player who works well within a small team and communicates effectively with business users.

What you’ll get:

  • Work on designing and developing new features and functionality for a blue-chip client within a genuinely agile (lowercase) environment.

  • Relaxed, professional, flexible and supportive team-based culture, working with experienced software professionals who enjoy collaborating and developing great solutions as the team grows.

  • Must have current right to work in New Zealand and be based in Auckland, working one to two days a week at the client site in Ellerslie.
