Full Stack Engineer
Summary
Build and maintain full-stack features for a healthcare platform using Python, Azure, and RESTful APIs, collaborating with clinical teams to create secure, reliable systems.
We're looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our team through our employment partner Deel. This role is for someone who is comfortable working across the entire stack, from backend services and cloud infrastructure to the APIs and data pipelines that power our platform.
Alumus is building technology at the intersection of healthcare and intelligent software - combining clinical workflows with modern engineering to create products that make a real difference for patients and providers. We're looking for a Full Stack Developer who is comfortable working across the entire stack, from backend services and cloud infrastructure to the APIs and data pipelines that power our platform. You'll work closely with clinical and product teams to ensure our systems are accurate, secure, and reliable, while also helping shape how we design and build solutions going forward.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys ownership, likes solving ambiguous problems, and wants to work on software that has a tangible impact in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain full stack features: from backend services and APIs to the frontend interfaces that consume them.
- Diagnose and fix bugs across the stack, ensuring platform stability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with clinical and product teams to validate business logic, translate requirements into technical designs, and ensure workflow accuracy. Develop, maintain, and scale backend services using Python.
- Design, build, and secure RESTful APIs, including documentation via Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Build and maintain Python modules that support LLM powered features.
- Participate in code reviews, contributing to team-wide standards for code quality, maintainability, and security.
- Monitor application health and performance in production and help improve observability across the platform.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of professional full stack development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience building and maintaining backend services.
- Solid experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including microservices and eventdriven architecture patterns.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
- Familiarity with API documentation standards (Swagger/OpenAPI).
- Understanding of data security best practices, including encryption at rest and in transit.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across a full stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure).
- Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with product and clinical/domain experts to translate real-world requirements into technical solutions.
- Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
- Experience with version control (Git) and modern software development workflows.
Nice to Haves
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring frameworks.
- Experience with automated testing and API performance benchmarking.
- Experience working in small, agile teams and owning infrastructure or security modules end-to-end.
- Prior exposure to LLM powered applications or pipelines.
- Experience in healthcare, healthtech, or another regulated industry.
Ownership
This is not a "just write the ticket" role. You'll be expected to participate in designing solutions, not just implementing them - digging into the underlying clinical and business problems, weighing in on architecture decisions, and helping define how features should work before code gets written. We're looking for someone who wants a seat at the table when it comes to shaping the product and the systems behind it, and who takes pride in owning problems end-to-end.
