Full Stack Engineer — Angular and Spring Boot for NATO with security clearance

Posted Updated
Discussion

Summary

Full stack engineer building and operating web applications for a multinational defence organisation (NATO) in the Netherlands: writing Angular/TypeScript front ends and Java Spring Boot back ends, working with SQL/NoSQL stores and messaging feeds, and running the Git/Maven/Jenkins delivery chain in a small Scrum team. Security clearance required.

A multinational defence organisation runs a family of operational software applications and is looking for a full stack engineer who is genuinely comfortable at both ends of the stack. You will join a small Scrum team, take features from idea to production, and stay with them once they are running.

What You Would Be Doing

  • Developing, operating and maintaining operational web applications, front end and back end, with the same care on both sides.
  • Writing Angular front ends in TypeScript, with the HTML and CSS work that goes with them.
  • Writing Java services on Spring and Spring Boot, and the automated tests that keep them honest — unit, component, functional and integration.
  • Working with SQL and NoSQL stores, and with the messaging and near real-time data feeds the applications depend on.
  • Running the build and delivery chain day to day: Git, Maven, Jenkins, Jira, packaging on Linux.
  • Taking part in the team's Scrum rhythm, and helping the product owner turn a rough idea into something shippable.

What you would bring

  • A degree in computer science or a close engineering subject and at least three years writing software professionally.
  • Two years or more with Angular 10 or later, and the same again with Spring 5 or later.
  • Solid automated testing habits, and confidence with XML, JSON, Git, Maven and Jenkins.
  • Comfort on Linux — RHEL or Oracle Linux — plus the networking basics: TCP, UDP, SSH, a terminal.
  • Nice to have: WebSockets with STOMP, near real-time data visualisation, RPM packaging, tactical data links, Scrum experience.
  • Professional English and the ability to work inside an international team.

Extensions are offered where the work goes well. Applications are reviewed as they arrive.
