Summary

Full Stack Engineer at seed-stage AI infrastructure startup clera will own product surfaces end-to-end — roughly 60% frontend/API work and 40% backend services — for an enterprise context layer that makes AI agents reliable, accurate, and secure. The role is on-site in San Mateo and calls for modern frontend (React/Vue) plus backend (Python/Go/Node/Java) skills.

About the Role

Join a small, senior team at a seed-stage AI infrastructure company building an enterprise context layer that makes AI agents reliable, accurate, and secure for critical business operations. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will own product surfaces end-to-end, from customer-facing interfaces to the APIs and data models underneath. Your work will directly shape how engineers understand and interact with a complex, distributed platform.

What You'll Do

  • Own complete product surfaces end-to-end, covering interfaces, APIs, and data models.

  • Split your time roughly 60% on frontend and API layer work and 40% on backend services.

  • Make complex system behavior legible and fast for engineers using the platform.

  • Define architecture, ship it to production, monitor its behavior, and fix what breaks.

  • Make product and design calls independently, without handed-down specs or design files.

What We're Looking For

  • 5 or more years building and shipping full-stack applications in production.

  • Proficiency with a modern frontend framework such as React or Vue, with an eye for making complex behavior intuitive.

  • Strong backend fundamentals, with hands-on experience in Python, Go, Node.js, Java, or equivalent.

  • Experience designing and shipping product surfaces end-to-end without detailed specifications.

  • Comfort making architectural decisions independently and owning them through production.

  • Experience with databases and data modeling for systems requiring real-time performance.

  • A builder-oriented background with a track record of startup-speed execution.

  • Genuine full-stack capability, comfortable going deep on distributed systems while also touching UI.

  • Nice to have: experience with knowledge graphs, semantic systems, or graph databases; distributed systems, real-time inference, or agent-based systems; infrastructure or developer-facing products; enterprise data systems or data integration.

Location

On-site in San Mateo, California, United States. Visa sponsorship is available.
