Full Stack Engineer

Decibel is an exchange where equities, real world assets, commodities, indices and crypto trade around the clock, weekends included, all from one margin account. Matching, margin and liquidation happen onchain, so a trader can check our numbers instead of taking our word for them.

We launched in February 2026 and crossed $5B in cumulative volume in July. We are not building only for crypto natives. We are building for people who already trade equities and commodities and have never touched a wallet, and for anyone who wants access to more financial products, in more hours, than their current venue offers.

The team is small, scrappy and ambitious, and it runs financial infrastructure that does not close. Markets are open 24/7/365 and so is the venue, which means the team operates the same way: someone is always awake, releases go out on the day they are ready rather than on a Thursday, and the person who finds a problem is usually the person who chases it down.

About the role:

You will build product on top of the Decibel exchange, in our core monorepo, mostly in the web app and the packages around it. Trading UI, onboarding flows, dashboards, internal tools, partner surfaces, and whatever the product needs next. The loop is short. You will regularly take something from idea to production in days rather than weeks.

The reason this role asks for Rust is not that you will be writing the matching engine. It is that our trading API and indexer are written in Rust, and the difference between an engineer who can read them and one who cannot is the difference between shipping a correct feature and shipping a feature that looks right until the edge case arrives. You will be reading Rust weekly and writing it occasionally.

What we mean by mid-level: you can take a feature with no hand-holding, scope it, build it, test it, and get it to production without someone checking on you daily. You do not need to have worked on an exchange before. You do need to have shipped something real that people used with real money.

This is a live venue with real money on it, which shapes how we build. A rendering glitch is a rendering glitch. A wrong number next to a position is a trader making a decision on bad information. The bar on correctness is high, and the engineers you will work with hold it.

What you will work on:

• Ship user-facing features in the web app, built on Next.js, React and TypeScript, and the packages that support it: SDK, CLI, and shared libraries in a monorepo
• Build the surfaces around the trading core: onboarding and funding flows, the partner portal, dashboards, campaign and incentive tooling, internal admin
• Work across the stack as needed: consume the Rust trading API and indexer, query ClickHouse for trading data, write Python for analysis, and read the Move contract layer on Aptos well enough to build correctly against it
• Contribute to the Rust services where the work calls for it, starting with reading and small changes and growing from there
• Use AI coding tools as a core part of your workflow, and audit what they produce. You own every line you ship, whether you or a model wrote it
• Write tests, review diffs carefully, and hold quality while moving fast

What are we looking for?

• 3 to 5 years building and shipping software, with solid TypeScript and React fundamentals and comfort working in a large monorepo
• Enough Rust to read a service and follow what it does. Production Rust is better. A serious side project is acceptable if the rest is strong
• A history of building things people actually used. Consumer apps, mobile, or fintech is what we are looking for first. A product with a login, a balance, and users who complain when it breaks teaches things that internal tooling does not
• Proficiency with AI development tools and demonstrated judgment in using them. You can direct them well, verify their output, and catch what they get wrong
• You ship independently: scope, build, test, deploy, without needing a plan handed to you
• Comfort switching between frontend, data, scripts and infrastructure as the task demands
• Fluent working English, written and spoken. The team runs in English and much of engineering sits in other timezones
• Based in Medellín, and available four days a week in the Milla de Oro office

Nice to have:

• Fintech, brokerage, payments, neobanking or trading product experience. Anything where money moved and correctness was not negotiable
• Mobile or React Native experience, or a track record of making things work properly on a phone. Most of our audience is on one
• Interest in markets or trading. Experience with perps, orderbooks or DeFi is a plus, not a requirement
• Aptos or Move, or any smart contract work
• High-throughput data systems, or SQL against a columnar store such as ClickHouse
• Side projects, open source, or anything deployed that we can look at

Compensation:

COP 8,000,000 to 12,000,000 per month, depending on experience and how much of the stack you already cover.
