Full Stack Engineer

Summary

Build full-stack AI features for a fintech startup: Next.js/Tailwind frontend, Python/FastAPI backend with OpenSearch and RAG pipelines to power investment research agents.

We’re an early-stage AI startup building intelligent research agents for retail and institutional investors. Our product helps users go beyond search and summarization to generate insights through AI agents over financial data.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full stack: Build and ship product features across frontend (Next.js, Tailwind) and backend (Python, FastAPI, OpenSearch).
  • Implement core user flows: chat interface, contextual document viewer, and right-click actions tied to model reasoning.
  • Design and develop backend services to handle agentic orchestration, RAG pipelines, caching, and telemetry for user interactions.
  • Work closely with the founder (technical) to iterate fast based on user feedback.
  • Lay technical foundations for analytics, logging, and future LLM fine-tuning workflows.

Who We Are Looking For

You’re a builder with strong full stack chops — and bonus points if you’ve ever:

  • Built personal finance dashboards, screeners, or investment research tools
  • Followed earnings calls or explored financial filings out of curiosity
  • Wondered how to use LLMs to actually think about stocks, not just summarize them

We’re especially excited about engineers who speak the language of investment analysts, or are eager to learn it — you’ll be building tools that help users explore financial data with the intuition of a human analyst.

Qualifications

  • Have 5+ years of experience in full stack development (senior engineer or equivalent skill level)
  • Are fluent in Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and modern React patterns
  • Know your way around Python, FastAPI, and working with OpenSearch or other search infra
  • Have experience integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, open-source) and working with vector search/RAG
  • Value speed, ownership, and pragmatic code quality over over-engineering
  • Thrive in ambiguity and are energized by building something from scratch

Contract Terms

  • Full-time/Part-time (at least 20hrs/week for part-time)
  • 6-month contract with potential to convert to full-time founding engineer with equity
  • Remote-first, async-friendly culture — we care about output, not hours

You’ll be joining at the most exciting time — as we iterate quickly towards product-market fit, where your code will directly shape the product, and your ideas will influence what we become. We’re not just building another AI wrapper — we’re building a reasoning engine for the next generation of financial professionals.
