Full Stack Engineer (Fintech)

About Nostro: Nostro is built by global earners, for global earners. Millions of Pakistanis work with international clients and platforms, but getting paid, holding dollars, and spending them is still harder than it should be. We fix that with USD accounts, debit cards, payment links for charging clients, and instant peer-to-peer transfers, so our users can receive, hold, and grow their earnings without borders.

The role: You'll be one of the engineers building the platform our users trust with their income. You'll own features end to end, from API and database design to the interface a freelancer uses to send a payment link to a client in New York. You'll work closely with product, design, and operations, and your work will directly shape how thousands of people in Pakistan access the global economy.

What you'll do

• Design and build back-end services and APIs for accounts, cards, payment links, and P2P transfers, with correctness, idempotency, and auditability treated as requirements rather than extras
• Build fast, responsive, accessible web interfaces using React/Next.js
• Integrate with banking partners, card processors, and KYC/AML providers
• Write clean, tested code and give and receive thoughtful code reviews
• Improve performance, reliability, and security across the stack
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including taking part in an on-call rotation
• Write and maintain technical documentation
• Help improve our CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring practices

What you'll bring

Required: 1+ years building and shipping production web applications across the full stack

• Hands-on experience in fintech (payments, banking, wallets, lending, or similar). You understand why money movement needs idempotent operations, reliable ledgers, reconciliation, and careful handling of failures and retries.
• Strong back-end skills: API design, relational databases, and server-side frameworks such as Node.js
• Secure coding practices: authentication and authorization, protecting sensitive and personal data, and familiarity with the OWASP Top 10
• Comfort with Git and collaborative workflows (pull requests, code review, branching)
• Clear written and verbal communication in English, and the ability to work independently in a remote team
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

• Experience with card issuing, payment links, or cross-border/multi-currency payments
• Exposure to regulatory and compliance requirements (PCI DSS, KYC/AML, SBP regulations)
• Experience with AWS, Docker, and infrastructure as code
• Experience in an early-stage startup
