Full Stack Engineer (GIS / Geospatial Applications) (1 Year Contract)
Summary
One-year contract role in Singapore building and maintaining a cloud-native 3D geospatial web application. Day to day it's full-stack development with Python, TypeScript, and React, plus AWS infrastructure, Terraform IaC, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, security/identity integration, and monitoring.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable applications across multiple cloud environments. You will work across full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps, contributing to system architecture, application modernisation, and deployment automation.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications using Python, TypeScript, and React. Translate business and technical requirements into robust, fit-for-purpose solutions. Develop and integrate backend services, RESTful APIs, and frontend applications. Design, provision, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure to support application deployment, performance, and scalability. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate and standardise cloud deployments. Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, security scanning, and deployment workflows, preferably using GitLab. Support application migration and deployment across multiple cloud environments. Integrate applications with external authentication and identity management systems, ensuring secure authentication and access control. Implement security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with government security policies and standards. Implement observability, monitoring, logging, and fault-tolerance solutions to improve system reliability. Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot technical issues, and identify opportunities to improve existing systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system architecture, technical design, and integration with external platforms. Maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, system designs, and key design decisions.

Python, TypeScript, and React . Practical experience with
AWS cloud services , including infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and management. Hands-on experience with
Terraform
and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. Experience implementing
DevOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines , preferably using GitLab. Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system architecture, and application design. Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and external systems. Familiarity with application security best practices, secure authentication flows, and identity and access management. Experience with observability technologies for application monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting. Ability to interpret, develop, and maintain system architecture diagrams and technical documentation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to evolving technical requirements. Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
Good to Have
Experience developing 3D geospatial applications, GIS platforms, or interactive mapping solutions. Familiarity with government cloud environments, security requirements, or compliance standards. Experience with cloud migration, multi-environment deployments, and application modernisation. Exposure to cloud-native architectures, containerisation, or orchestration technologies.
