Full Stack Engineer

In Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Client Services, we’re building a Client Due Diligence (CDD) platform to support funds onboarding. In this role, you’ll be hands-on building React-based UI applications, Java 21+ microservices, and PostgreSQL data stores, deploying into containerised environments (Docker) orchestrated by Kubernetes. You’ll lead by example within our software delivery teams to create a first-in-class solution, iteratively delivered into the hands of our users.

In this role, you will:

Build and ship production software across the stack: React UI applications, Java 21+ backend microservices, and PostgreSQL-backed services.

Design and implement microservice-aligned architecture, including service boundaries, API contracts, and integration patterns.

Containerise services using Docker and support deployment and runtime operations on Kubernetes (e.g., configuration, scaling, resilience).

● Deliver RESTful APIs to production, with strong attention to security, performance, and maintainability.

● Work with non-functional requirements (availability, observability, latency, auditability, data integrity) and align engineering outcomes to business growth.

Drive engineering culture: clean code, automated testing, trunk-based development/branching discipline, peer reviews, and continuous improvement.

● Collaborate with a global, cross-region team, coordinating delivery across time zones and organisational boundaries.

● Proactively remove impediments, identify delivery risk early, and communicate clearly with programme management and stakeholders.

● Identify process inefficiencies and implement practical, scalable improvements (automation, standard patterns, engineering playbooks).

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

● Strong experience in software engineering with proven expertise designing, developing, and deploying backend applications in production.

● Hands-on delivery experience with microservice architectures, including service-to-service communication and API versioning.

● Experience delivering change to production at high cadence (CI/CD mindset and operational ownership).

● Proven experience delivering RESTful APIs to production, including authentication/authorisation considerations.

● Experience designing schemas for and working with PostgreSQL (data modelling, indexing, query performance).

You should also have experience with one or more of the following:

Java 21+ (or recent modern Java) building microservices (e.g., Spring Boot or similar frameworks).

Docker for container packaging and local development workflows.

Kubernetes for orchestration (deployments, services/ingress, config/secrets, autoscaling; comfort reading manifests/Helm charts is a plus).

● Cloud platform experience (e.g., GCP) and cloud-native patterns.

React (ReactJS) for building modern UI applications (component-driven development, state management, API integration).

● Experience in the financial sector, ideally banking, with awareness of regulatory and risk considerations for client onboarding/due diligence systems.
