Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservice-based applications.
- Define and implement appropriate integration patterns between internal and external systems.
- Contribute to architectural decisions related to distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and application design.
- Develop backend solutions primarily using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Contribute when required to frontend applications built with TypeScript, Nuxt, and NuxtUI, while maintaining a primary focus on backend development.
- Build and operate cloud-native workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Run.
- Define and maintain infrastructure using Terraform.
- Participate actively in code reviews and pair programming sessions.
- Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices and maintain high standards of automated testing.
- Write maintainable, modular, and well-structured code following Clean Code principles.
- Contribute to and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows.
- Use AI-assisted software engineering tools and practices to improve development productivity, code quality, testing, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers, architects, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Document technical solutions, architectural decisions, and development processes using Confluence.
- Manage development activities and collaborate with the wider team using Jira, Git, and GitLab.
Qualifications
- Strong professional experience in backend software development.
- Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Good understanding of common enterprise integration patterns.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and service-to-service integrations.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native application development.
- Practical experience with Cloud Run or similar container/serverless platforms.
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices including:
- Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Clean Code
- Code Reviews
- Pair Programming
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
- Strong experience with Git-based development workflows, preferably using GitLab.
- Experience working in collaborative development environments using Jira and Confluence.
- Experience incorporating AI tools into software engineering workflows.
Nice to have
- Experience with TypeScript.
- Experience developing Single Page Applications.
- Experience with Nuxt and NuxtUI.
- Broader full-stack development experience while maintaining strong backend expertise.
- Experience designing systems deployed in containerized and serverless cloud environments.
