Description

About the Role:
We are building software systems for autonomous vehicles. You will work on safety-critical applications including:
•Management and Monitoring Server (MMS): Real-time visualization and control of wayside signals and vehicle operations. This is the primary interface for control center operators to monitor and manage the entire transit system.
•Journey Planning System (JPS): Generates schedules based on capacity requirements, detects potential conflicts between trips, and supports real-time schedule adjustments. This involves complex algorithmic work for scheduling and conflict analysis.
•Safety Server (SS): Orchestrates autonomous vehicles to execute passenger missions, dynamically controls wayside signals based on vehicle positions, and monitors system health across JPS, signals, and vehicles — triggering fallback procedures when anomalies occur.
This role offers the opportunity to work on technology that directly impacts public transportation safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
•Full Stack Development: Design and develop web applications with Python, FastAPI, and GraphQL on the backend, PostgreSQL as the primary database, and TypeScript/JavaScript with Angular on the frontend. Own features from requirements analysis through implementation and deployment.
•IoT Integration & Communication: Integrate with IoT devices via MQTT for real-time status collection and remote control. Implement service-to-service communication using WebSocket and RESTful APIs.
•Testing & Quality Assurance: Write and maintain comprehensive automated tests including backend unit tests (pytest), frontend unit tests (Jest), and end-to-end tests (Playwright). Ensure test coverage and reliability across the stack.
•Containerization & Deployment: Containerize all services with Docker and publish images to private registries. Provide stable, reproducible environments for cross-team testing and integration.
•CI/CD & Release: Maintain CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins with Gerrit/Git workflows. Automate the full cycle from code commit through testing, image building, and publishing to registry.
•Observability & Monitoring: Implement and maintain application monitoring using Grafana, Prometheus, and TimescaleDB. Configure webhook alerts for anomaly detection and support incident investigation.
•Development Environment: Work in Linux environments on VMware VMs for development, testing, and debugging. Troubleshoot environment and connectivity issues across distributed services.
•Collaboration: Work closely with team members to execute and deliver features. Track progress and communicate status effectively.

Requirements:
•3+ years of experience in full stack software development.
•Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks such as FastAPI.
•Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
•Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
•Experience with WebSocket for real-time communication.
•Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
•Experience with modern frontend frameworks (Angular preferred; React or Vue also acceptable).
•Proficiency in Linux environments and command-line tools.
•Hands-on experience with Docker and containerization.
•Familiarity with Git-based version control workflows (Gerrit experience is a plus).
•Strong background in unit testing and end-to-end testing.
