Full Stack Engineer
Summary
Senior full-stack engineer building an industrial software/data platform: edge data collection from machine/OT sources, backend REST APIs, SQL data models, near-real-time updates (SignalR/WebSockets), buffering and recovery, and deployment/monitoring on Azure App Service. Backend- and database-heavy, with operational dashboards on the front end.
Senior Full-Stack, Data & Industrial Software Engineer
Role purpose: Build and support the software/data platform that acquires operational data, processes it reliably, stores history, exposes APIs and presents live and historical information to users.
Key responsibilities
- Develop local/edge data-collection services or integrations with machine/OT data sources.
- Develop backend services and production-grade REST APIs.
- Design and implement SQL relational data models and historical/audit structures.
- Implement live/near-real-time updates using suitable technologies such as SignalR, WebSockets or polling.
- Implement buffering/store-and-forward, retry, duplicate prevention and recovery for temporary connectivity failures.
- Develop authentication, role-based access and audit features where required.
- Implement reporting, export and operational diagnostic views.
- Deploy and monitor applications in Azure App Service or equivalent hosting environments.
- Use Git, code review and CI/CD practices and support production troubleshooting.
Experience indicators to prioritise
- Has personally delivered production full-stack systems, not only prototypes.
- Strong backend and database engineering; front-end capability sufficient to deliver operational dashboards.
- Can explain how they handle data integrity, concurrency, failures, retries and observability.
- Experience with telemetry, IoT, field-service, logistics, manufacturing or other operational systems is advantageous.
- Comfortable working with OT/automation specialists without needing to own PLC programming.
Preferred qualifications / credentials
These are preferred, not mandatory for Project 2. Strong, relevant hands-on experience may substitute for formal qualifications or certifications.
- Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related degree/diploma is advantageous but not required.
- Relevant Microsoft/.NET, Azure, database or DevOps certifications are useful but secondary to demonstrable delivery experience.
- Strong production portfolio, GitHub/work samples or references can substitute for formal qualifications.
