Frontend UI Engineer | Hedge Fund | London | up to £250k total

If you're a frontend engineer who wants to get closer to the people using what you build, this could be an interesting one.

I'm working with a leading systematic fund looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to build sophisticated, data-intensive interfaces used directly by Portfolio Managers, Traders, Researchers and Analysts.

This isn't a role where you'll sit behind a product team and turn Figma designs into React components.

You'll work directly with the end users, understand what they're trying to achieve, gather requirements and turn complex investment workflows and datasets into intuitive, high-performance UIs.

The technical bar is high too. I'm looking for someone who understands what's happening under the hood, not just someone who knows their way around React. You'll be working with large datasets, real-time information and scalable web applications, with the opportunity to influence architecture and how the product is built.

The ideal background could be a data-intensive fund or investment bank, or a strong technology company with engineers who have excellent CS fundamentals and a deep understanding of the systems behind the UI.

What you'll bring:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and a deep understanding of what's happening under the hood
  • Experience building scalable, data-intensive applications, ideally within a fund, investment bank or high-scale technology environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gather requirements and work directly with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Researchers and Analysts

Why consider it?

  • Build UIs that sit directly alongside investment decision-making
  • Work directly with senior users rather than through layers of product and business analysts
  • Solve genuinely interesting problems around data, performance and usability
  • Significant ownership over the technology and user experience
  • Join a competitive environment where strong engineering fundamentals and new ideas are valued

If you're a strong frontend engineer who wants to move beyond building standard web applications and work on something far more closely connected to the investment process, I'd be interested in speaking.
