Full Stack Engineer
Senior Software Engineer (Java / React) | €482 per day | Dublin Hybrid | 12 Month Contract
Our client, a global leader in digital payments technology, is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their Dublin engineering team on an initial 12-month daily rate contract with strong potential for extension.
This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, business-critical payment platforms, building resilient software used by millions of customers worldwide.
The Role
You will work across a mixed technology landscape of modern microservices and enterprise monolithic applications, delivering new features while improving platform resilience, scalability and reliability.
You'll take ownership of the full software development lifecycle, from solution design through development, testing, deployment and production support, while helping drive engineering best practices across the team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications
- Build scalable microservices using Spring Boot
- Develop modern frontend applications using React
- Work across both legacy monolithic systems and cloud-native architectures
- Design and build secure, high-performance APIs and distributed systems
- Deliver features from design through production support
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes
- Collaborate with architects, product owners and globally distributed engineering teams
- Drive high standards in code quality, testing, CI/CD and operational excellence
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical leadership across the team
- Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to proof of concepts and technical improvements
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality
Required Experience
- 4+ years of commercial software engineering experience
- Spring Boot
- React
- Oracle and/or PostgreSQL
- Strong SQL knowledge
- Kafka
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Strong understanding of software design patterns
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience within Financial Services or Payments
- Kubernetes and Docker
- Event-driven architectures
- Experience supporting production systems and resolving live incidents
- Experience mentoring or leading other engineers
- Initial 12-month contract
